Review: Had this book not been authored by Charlie Cochet, I would have probably given it a pass. Sometimes I take a chance and try something new and I regret it. This time, fortunately, I am glad I gave it a try. I admit, it started out a bit slow for me and my head was spinning with all the nano this and bio tech that. I also admit, science is not my favorite subject and I was thinking I was in a bit over my head. Fortunately, once the groundwork was laid out, I was able to get past all the lingo and get to the nitty-gritty of this top secret research known as Project Mars.
Who knew that Project Mars would bring Dr. Kelly Sutton the man of his dreams, and at the same time, threaten his very life. It’s pretty scary how the premise behind this story is not as far fetched as one would think. I can see a world where we are completely techy and where the military secretly (or not so secretly) controls everything. So, it completely makes sense that when the military is involved then violence and combat would follow. Considering I like military and soldiers in my stories, I was okay with that.
Yet, once again I am left scratching my head trying to figure out how to review a book without giving anything away. I can’t even tell you the name of Kelly’s lover because that in and of itself could be a spoiler. So, let me sum up my impressions and thoughts by saying that if you are fan of Charlie Cochet’s writing, then you will love this book. If you are fan of alpha males, and I really mean it when I say big, bad, and in control alpha males, then you will love this book. And the ending was extremely heartfelt, super sigh, and I swear I melted when they smiled at each other…read it, you will know what I’m talking about.
In closing, it’s short (actually too short for my tastes) but it’s well written, has great characters, it’s different than anything I’ve read before, and it’s Charlie Cochet, so heck yeah I recommend it.
