Blurb: Arrow enjoys his job—more or less. It pays well, lets him travel freely, and puts his rather unique skill set to good use. But when he finds a letter addressed to the most recent man he’s been hired to track down, he begins to wonder if what he’s got is what he really wants.
Quinn has mostly resigned himself to a lonely life and instead puts his focus on assisting the unusual clientele of the Crystal Moon Emporium, a shop catering exclusively to witches. It’s a life, if not much of one, and he’s getting by. Then a handsome stranger walks through the door, and Quinn starts to feel that maybe just ‘getting by’ is no longer enough.
Review:
Since Quinn’s partner died, he’s been living a lonely, sad life. He hasn’t been able to get over George’s death in the five years he’s been grieving but when Quinn’s brother, Michael, comes back into his life with his future wife, they inadvertently give Quinn a reason to move on with his life. That reason? Arrow, the man who’s been chasing Michael and Jade. Quinn thought he finally found another person to spend his life with but what will happen once he figures out the real reason Arrow has shown interest in him?
There were a lot of things I liked about this story. I loved how Quinn’s letter was able to make Arrow feel so much towards a complete stranger and I especially loved that it slowly worked its way under Arrow’s skin. More than that, I liked how sweet Quinn and Arrow were together. Instead of jumping into bed right away or being in love at first sight, they take things slow and actually date. It was refreshing in a way and made the conflict and feelings they had in the end all that much more real.
Unfortunately, one of my issues with this story was how one-dimensional the characters felt to me. I tried to connect with them but it was hard because I didn’t feel like I really knew them. By the end, I felt like there were too many questions left unanswered such as what Arrow will be doing now that he’s not in the business of finding people.
All in all, this was a light, sweet read. If I had to describe it further, I’d even call it ‘quiet’ because while there is a little suspense, it’s more of a slow discovery of romance. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more by this author.
Overall Impression: I liked it
