Blurb: Detective Gabriel Ashby has never looked twice at another man, yet the criminal across from him, the man he’s interrogating, isn’t like any other. Gabe can’t deal with the sudden, intense need he has for one of NYPD’s Most Wanted. Everyone close to Angelo Pagan ends up dead, with the smug gang leader standing amid the rubble. Gabe would love nothing more than to bust Angelo’s ass and lock him up. So why is he seeing the bastard in his dreams at night?

Angelo Pagan knows attraction to Gabe is suicide. He’s resolute to ignore the chemistry…until a police raid goes wrong. He critically injures Gabe, changing the trajectory of both their lives. Now the two can’t get close enough. They settle into a forbidden affair threatened by lies and betrayal, living on different sides of the law with no way of breaching the gap between them. With the authorities looking to make an example of Angelo, Gabe has to decide if it’s really worth it to hate the sin but love the sinner.

blogger_bee_transReview:

If you can suspend your beliefs for just a bit, this is one heck of a hot read. Yes, I had a hard time believing these two initially fell for each other, especially as fast as they did, but once past that, they were fabulous together.

Gabe is the up-til-now straight detective who falls for gang leader, Angelo, who is gay, but the only one who knows at this point is his mother. These two quickly fall into a somewhat secret relationship where Gabe is introduced to the sexy gay alpha Angelo. He learns how intense his feelings can be with not just any other man, but with Angelo. I swear, every time Angelo called Gabe “cop,” I got chills. These two are really sexy together, and Gabe doesn’t take much crap from Angelo. They are both a bit dominant, so watching the give and take was a joy as well. They struggle with walking the fine line between Gabe’s job and Angelo’s livelihood. It doesn’t take long before those intersect causing them problems.

I loved the struggles these guys had. Angelo is trying to do the right thing for his family and the gang while making things right with Gabe as well. Gabe struggles with his feelings for Angelo while he wars with right and wrong. This grabbed me almost from the beginning, had me hooked throughout and eager to jump into the next when I finished. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series, especially if the rest prove to be as hot as this segment was.

Overall Impression: I really liked it

*I purchased my own a copy of this book for my review.*
