Blurb: When Cole arrives at the scene of a major fire, he finds that his best friend, a paramedic named Finn, has recklessly risked his life by running into the burning building. Finn emerges fine, though singed, but Cole does not take the situation well. Their heated argument sparks a confession from Finn regarding his feelings for Cole, but a night of passion might not survive the light of day.

Review:
Yet another story that would have been great if it were longer! I love Therese Woodson’s writing. So far, every book I’ve read by her I’ve enjoyed immensely and this one is no different.
It tells the tale of best friends, Cole and Finn, and how Finn’s reckless behavior sets in motion the truth about both their feelings. I liked the story but because of the length, there really isn’t much depth to it. The characters are nice but I didn’t feel any emotional connection with them. Add to that, for me, I wasn’t feeling the sex because all I wanted was to know the characters better… not their bodies better.
BUT I LOVED the premise. Best friends to lovers has always been a trope I’ve adored. Throw in a firefighter and a paramedic and I’m sooooo there! For that reason, this story intrigued me and, like I said, I did enjoy the book. It’s cute, sweet and fun and definitely worth a read, especially since it’s so short.
In the end, this little story had a lot of potential. I desperately hope it’s expanded into a novella (at least) because I think it could really be great with more characterization and meat to it. If you’re looking for something quick, easy, sweet and fun, definitely give this one a try!
Overall Impression: I liked it
