Blurb: Sean Maddox has one basic goal: to protect the Northwest Pack. That priority helps him stay grounded—until the day the pack rescues Liam. Suddenly Sean is finding any excuse to be around the sweet, blind shifter. But trying to focus his thoughts on keeping Liam safe and not exploring the whole laundry list of carnal fantasies he’s been having is anything but grounding. It doesn’t help that Sean’s wolf makes it damn clear it believes Liam belongs to him.

From the first deep breath of Sean Maddox’s intoxicating scent, all Liam wants to do is strip naked for the sexy beta and let the wolf claim him. Hiding away his desires seems like the best plan, given after a lifetime in captivity Liam is just learning what it means to be free. What does he know about being a mate? More to the point, would Sean even want him if he knew the truth?

As Sean and Liam struggle with their growing craving for each other an old enemy steps out of the shadows. With secrets lurking and fate twisting two worlds together a sacrifice must be made, but can the two mates live with the consequences?

Review:

When Sean rescued Liam from the lab, he promised no one would ever hurt Liam again and he’s taken that vow seriously. It’s bad enough Liam is a blind werewolf with no scent but now he’s dying and he’ll do everything in his power to protect Sean from the inevitable even if it means holding himself back from claiming his mate. When an opportunity for Liam to really make his life mean something becomes available, he takes it even though it means putting himself in danger. Will Sean be able to rescue the man he’s come to love before it’s too late or will his vow to protect him be for naught?

I read Scent of a Wolf a few months ago and fell in love with the world the author created. I just loved the fact that it had the traditional wolves mixed with a new, rare breed that was being experimented on. There were a few twists and turns, some action and a bit of romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. In this one, it’s no different. We have the Pack of Light who are a rare type of shifter and then we have the regular wolves, who while strong, don’t hold the same power and magnificence as the Pack of Light. THEN we have the hybrids who are a mix between the two but who also have a lot of pain in their past.

For this book, I loved that Liam was a blind werewolf who was dying because of what the scientists did to him. Add to that, I was intrigued and horrified that he held from Sean the fact they were mates. Intrigued because Sean obviously cared for Liam as if they WERE mates while thinking they weren’t and horrified because of the blow-up that would eventually happen when the lie came out. Still, I loved that Sean was so protective and caring with Liam while Liam still had strength and stubbornness even with his disability. He wanted to be independent and he was but he also wasn’t afraid to ask for help when he needed it.

I really enjoyed this one but I had one major and one small issue with it. My biggest problem is that there was just too much sex for my tastes. I really loved them together and I liked that there was the connection between them even though Sean didn’t know they were mates. My smaller problem was that I felt like the ending was too convenient. Liam gets himself kidnapped and just so happens to land in the very place to find a cure? It seemed too ‘manufactured’, IMO.

Still, I won’t deny that I enjoyed the book. It was a lot of fun and I really loved getting back to this world. I’m glad Sean got his own story and even happier that Liam, a blind werewolf who can’t shift, got a tale. I loved that he was blind because it definitely gave the story a little twist. I’m looking forward to seeing where the series goes next and I’m just dying to see if our new residents get a story (as long as it’s not a threesome!).

Overall Impression: I liked it!

*I received a copy of this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.*
