Blurb: It’s easy to walk away from lies. Power is another thing.
MacKayla Lane would do anything to save the home she loves. A gifted sidhe-seer, she’s already fought and defeated the deadly Sinsar Dubh—an ancient book of terrible evil—yet its hold on her has never been stronger.
When the wall that protected humans from the seductive, insatiable Fae was destroyed on Halloween, long-imprisoned immortals ravaged the planet. Now Dublin is a war zone with factions battling for control. As the city heats up and the ice left by the Hoar Frost King melts, tempers flare, passions run red-hot, and dangerous lines get crossed.
Seelie and Unseelie vie for power against nine ancient immortals who have governed Dublin for millennia; a rival band of sidhe-seers invades the city, determined to claim it for their own; Mac’s former protégé and best friend, Dani “Mega” O’Malley, is now her fierce enemy; and even more urgent, Highland druid Christian MacKeltar has been captured by the Crimson Hag and is being driven deeper into Unseelie madness with each passing day. The only one Mac can depend on is the powerful, dangerous immortal Jericho Barrons, but even their fiery bond is tested by betrayal.
It’s a world where staying alive is a constant struggle, the line between good and evil gets blurred, and every alliance comes at a price. In an epic battle against dark forces, Mac must decide who she can trust, and what her survival is ultimately worth.

Review: This is, hands down, my ultimate favorite paranormal series of all time. Each installment has left me seeking rehab for serious withdrawals for my next fix, and this one is no different. Some have left us hanging with major cliffhangers, while others leave us with more unanswered questions. All have had me wishing there was something I could do to make it possible to open the next one immediately. Such is not possible at this point, since I am all caught up, but the wait is definitely worth it.
The world Ms. Moning has created here is ever changing, yet so much of what I loved remains. Of course, the Nine are steadfast components, and while we learn about another in this story, several still remain unknown. As with before, JZB and Ryoden remain key players with Lor becoming more involved now in each book. Fade and Kasteo are showing themselves a bit more as well, and we learn a little more about them, but Lor steals the show this time of the three of them. He is fabulous, showing he is all about sex with the buxom blondes, which makes what happens to him even more comical. But there is also hints that there is a lot more to him, just as we have learned about JZB and Ryo. We see a totally different side of Ryo this time around and get a much bigger glimpse into his existence.
As much as I love learning more about these “guys,” and we do learn quite a bit and even some eye-popping details, it is their interactions with each other, as well as with the other players, that I long for. I could sit and watch them banter, do what they do, and even watch them get their arses handed to them from time to time, as Ryo or Barrons put them in their places. They are the backbone of this story, and really, I could go on an on.
So, some things (ok, a lot of things) happen in this installment; some good, some bad, some good and bad, but necessary. Some characters are recovered, some are lost, some come back not quite as they were and everyone must make adjustments to the ever-changing world and creatures/people in it. One thing is for certain, nothing is set in stone here and just when you think you’ve figured one thing out, something is revealed to change that and send you off in another direction trying to figure it out. I often feel like Mac and some of the other characters as they try and decipher and find solutions to their current problems.
While there are a few things I wish there were more or less of throughout, there was no question in my mind as to the level of masterful writing taking place. The ability to weave such a colorful world, dots being connected, to create such a multitude of creatures and characters and everything else going on, in addition to the amazingly hot sex and various steamy intense relationships, all of which leave me ready to cry for the book to not end where it does and to just to give me a little more (every time), is what makes my highly recommend this series over and over.
Overall Impression: It was amazing
*I purchased my own, personal copy of this book for review.*
