Blurb: They’d finally caught the madman who had been kidnapping, torturing and murdering submissives. Damon had sat in that warehouse, clutching Oliver, the boy barely alive, and somehow in the weeks that followed Damon never seemed to be able to let him go.
Oliver was broken, in body, mind, and spirit. And for the first time since he had brought him home from the hospital, Damon started questioning himself. Was he going to be enough for Oliver? If he could even find all the pieces of Oliver’s broken soul, could he mend them? Had the horrors that had ripped through Oliver left too many holes for Damon to repair? And finally, if he was going to be able to put Oliver back together, could he stop his own heart shattering in the process?

Review:
This story satisfied my damaged character hunger very well. We met Oliver in Pure Indulgence (book 2). He was one of the main victims of the kidnapper who had been brutally tortured before being saved by Damon and the authorities.
Feeling a strong pull toward the man he saved, Damon never left the bedside of the man he carried out of that warehouse. He decides to use his resources to pay it forward and help Oliver heal and recover. Even though their feelings grow, there are things that get in the way. Damon worried about Oliver questioning his motives, miscommunications, Oliver actually questioning his ability to be what Damon needs, etc. The last one is a biggie though, because Oliver, understandably so given his past circumstances, doesn’t want anything to do with whips, chains, bondage, etc. He believes this is something Damon needs as a dom. So, yeah, miscommunications abound. But, with the help of their friends, they both realize how their needs have changed since meeting and falling for each other.
There is very little BDSM in this story at all, even though the theme sort of centers around it with the club and the friends all being in BDSM relationships. I totally expected that though, and would have been otherwise disappointed if that weren’t the case. This story is about healing and finding things you didn’t think were possible. I really liked Damon and Oliver together and felt they both deserved the love and affection from each other.
This was a fast-paced easy read, even knowing the circumstances and having to deal with the aftermath. It was a nice continuation of the Pure series, and I’m looking forward to seeing where things go next.
Overall Impression: I really liked it
