Blurb: As Kaiden McKenzie and Holt Mitchell prepare to celebrate their fifteenth anniversary, and the grand opening of their new club, Invicta, they take a look back on how their lives together began.
When Holt wakes up to an outraged father, he finds himself suddenly homeless and hungry. With the help and caring of a certain bad guy, Holt finds life isn’t quite so bad as it seems. All he needed was the right man to guide him along.
Kade has spent his life running from anyone and everyone who tries to get close, but when he meets up with Holt, he suddenly finds himself wishing for something more. Who knew he was someone’s knight in shining tattoos…

Review: One of my favorite tropes is established couples and so I was thrilled when this story started out with a couple who have history. I’m normally not a fan of young love, but in this case the couple has been together 15 years and we know the story will end on a high note, but first we get learn how they meet and the struggles they’ve encountered to get there.
I think what I really liked was that the guys are both struggling at first, and they have to learn to love each and are not instantly all lovey-dovey. If anything, I thought it took a long time for them to get to the feels and emotions. Not that they were totally cold to each other all the time, more that they are both kind of jaded and they don’t trust easily, for good reasons.
I initially was attracted to this series when I saw the blurb for book three and I am glad I chose to start at the beginning. From what I can see, the books follow a distinct storyline and one would be hard pressed to follow along if they read out of order. In this case, I loved seeing how Holt and Kaiden began and getting to see them in future books will be a bonus.
Recommended for those who love their boys working hard for their happy ever after and getting to see that hottie on the cover isn’t a hardship either.
Overall Impression: I really liked it
