Blurb: Imposing, temperamental Noah Forman wakes up in a hospital and can’t remember how he got there. He holds it together, taking comfort in the fact that the man he has loved since childhood is on the way. But when his one and only finally arrives, Noah is horrified to discover that he doesn’t remember anything from the past three years.
Loyal, serious Clark Lehman built a life around the person who insisted from their first meeting that they were meant to be together. Now, years later, two men whose love has never faltered must relive their most treasured and most painful moments in order to recover lost memories and secure their future.
Review: There is something about this author’s writing that really draws me in…and that says a lot, because I am not normally a fan of super sweet and sugary fluff. There was a lot of cutesy pet names, insta-love, unrealistic situations, and just basically everything that usually puts me off…except not with this author. For some oddball reason, it just works for me, and I love it. I can get through these books one after another, bam, bam, bam, and I thoroughly enjoy myself. One of life’s little mysteries, I guess.
Noah and Clark are soul mates from the moment they meet…and we meet them, and learn about their past, through flashbacks (yet something else I steer away from, but again, it worked here). Noah wakes in the hospital losing some of his memory, but not his love for Clark. Sadly, there is a story there, which is not all that fluffy sweet, and it’s the gist of the entire book. Through the segments between the past and present we get the story of young love, eternal love, and the tragic fallout from immature mistakes. Some might find that “mistake” unforgivable, and it was a little far-fetched that it could happen the way it did, but still, I got my requisite angst and was a happy reader.
So, I’ve decided that Cardeno C is my “guilty pleasure” author. I don’t need to have my normal requirements met, because I genuinely like this author’s writing and will continue to read them whenever I can. Sometimes I am really good at suspending my issues and peeves, and just enjoying the ride…and this was a ride I really liked.
Overall Impression: I really liked it
