Blurb: Trevan Bean has a job that’s going from illegal to frightening, a boyfriend who may not be in his right mind, and a guardian angel who might actually be evil incarnate. Add to that the reappearance of his boyfriend’s estranged family, death threats, kidnapping, and the struggle of saving money to realize a dream, and Trevan has a lot on his plate. But Trevan is up to the challenge: he promised Landry a happily ever after, and Landry’s going to have it if it kills him!

It just might.

Landry Carter was a broken doll when they met two years ago but has grown into a partner who can stand at Trevan’s side… most of the time. Now that Trevan’s life just got scary—and Landry just got himself kidnapped—Trevan has to hope Landry’s love stays strong through this newest challenge, because the happily ever after won’t happen if Trevan has to go it alone.

I really enjoyed this story.  Trevan and Landry are already together, but we get to see how that happened and how and why they work so well together.  These guys are a bit crazy and each is some degree of screwed up in one way or another.  They have such a unique relationship, and it is so interesting to see how they each provide exactly what the other needs to be functional.  On the outset, it seems as though Landry is the needy one, with his mental instability issues and panic attacks, and while Trevan is the one who always seems to know just what to do to set things right for Landry, Trevan needs and receives the same from Landry for his own instability issues.  They just had such a symbiotic relationship that was a joy to read about.

Throw into this mix the family drama/history, the issues and excitement surrounding Trevan’s money running job, the kidnapping and simply watching the guys deal with and grow from all that is happening, and you have quite the interesting and fun-to-read story.

I cannot believe this is my first Mary Calmes book.  It will certainly not be the last one I read, as I thoroughly enjoyed her writing style,  and I found it smooth and easy to read.  It grabbed my attention early on and held it through to the end.

There are some great side characters here as well.  Namely, Conrad, Trevan’s friend and guardian angel/hitman.  He’s dark and a bit mysterious, but we get to see enough of him through their friendship that leaves you longing for more, and I was super excited to see we may just get a bit of that in the future.

Overall Impression: I loved it

*I purchased my own, personal copy of this book for review.*
