Blurb: Valentine’s Day has always been one major suckfest for Andrew. He knows he is cursed and has resorted to avoiding everything even remotely related to the stupid “holiday.” Against his better judgment, Andrew lets his best friend talk him into attending a themed party one Valentine’s Day evening. Andrew spends the whole night cautiously waiting for his bad luck to kick in, nervous to see what disastrous situation he might find himself in. While at the party, Andrew meets Evan and is immediately attracted to him, but Andrew worries it will end in another Valentine’s debacle if he tries anything.
Can Evan convince Andrew he’s worth the risk or will this really be one more Valentine’s disaster?
This little short was such a cute, fun story! Andrew’s convinced he has a Valentine’s Day curse where no matter what, he’s plagued with bad luck around the romantic holiday. Having his birthday on that very day doesn’t improve his mood when he decides to spend another year at home alone with a young David Boreanaz watching Valentine. That is until his best friend convinces him to go to a Valentine’s Day Sucks party where he’s promptly left and at the mercy of a hot, sexy and oh-so-cocky Evan. Can Andrew get over his fear of his curse and let Evan have his wicked way with him or will yet another Valentine’s Day be a bust?
I adored this little short. Andrew’s hatred for Valentine’s Day and how it ruins his birthday was very sad but his melodrama was definitely entertaining. Not to mention, he’s very snarky and has no issues with letting his sarcasm loose on anyone to repel them. Evan, by contrast, finds Andrew’s snark amusing and uses his cockiness to break down Andrew’s walls. The two together are definitely hot and I loved that Evan had to ‘convince’ Andrew that his natural luck would counteract Andrew’s curse.
While I enjoyed the story, I really wished it had been much longer! I loved seeing Andrew fall to Evan’s charms but I would have also liked to see them after their first night together and seeing if Andrew had any ‘freak outs’ that his curse was coming back. Beyond that, there was a little too much smut for my liking considering the length of the story but that’s just a personal preference. I know other readers will rejoice in that 😉
In the end, this short story was sweet, sexy fun. Filled with Mr. Adams’ signature humor and snarky characters, it’s a great story if you’re looking for something quick and enjoyable and I really hope we get a sequel one day soon!
Overall Impression: I really liked it!
