Review:
In the few months since I first discovered Ms. Baker, she’s quickly become a favorite author of mine. I eagerly await each new release she has and this one was no different.
Mitchell and Case have been friends for years. While their relationship is just that – friends – everyone and their parents believe they’re in a relationship, especially when the way they act around each other is way more intimate than strictly friends should act. So when Case’s father sends them a gift in the way of a camping trip, they end up going the very weekend that is dedicated to couples fixing their relationships, Valentine’s Day Weekend. Mitch and Case aren’t a couple but faking it is better than telling the truth and, anyway, their relationship is perfect… isn’t it?
*sigh* Call me a romantic or a sucker for sweet stories, I don’t care because this one was right up my alley. It’s nothing over the top or unbelievable, it’s just about two friends who finally take that step to becoming something more even if it means almost knocking one of them over the head to make him see what’s right there. Case is the typical oblivious guy who hasn’t seen Mitch as anything more than a friend while Mitch has gone to great lengths to subtly tell Case he wants something more, even though Case doesn’t see it. Where Case is flighty, Mitch is calm and collected. They are like two sides to a coin and balance each other out well, which is why they’re so good together.
Seriously, I just adored this story. The only thing that could have made it better is if it were 100 pages longer and we could see how their new found relationship affects their personal lives, if at all. I would have loved to see the looks on everyone’s faces when Case and Mitch had to go through the whole ‘We weren’t boyfriends before… but we are now’ shpeal.
As it were, this was still a story I loved. Even with it being so short, I still liked that we got to see bits and pieces of Case and Mitch, their feelings and how they act. I loved the final revealing of the feelings and how intimate it was. Such a sweet story! I hope we get a sequel one day but if we don’t, I still can’t wait to see what Ms. Baker writes next!
Overall Impression: I really liked it!
