Blurb: Under the rule of science, there are no witch burnings allowed, no water trials or public lynchings. In return, the average law-abiding, solid citizen has little to worry about from the things that go bump in the night. Sometimes I wish I was an average citizen…
Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places-and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind.
But this new vampire is hardly ordinary-and neither is the demon inside of him.
Review:
Mercy Thompson is so awesome. She is way cool, and I want to be just like her. She is my hero, which is saying something, since I don’t usually have female favorite characters, but this chick is not very chick-like, and I love that. She’s a freaking mechanic, she’s fast as sin, and guys love her. What’s not to love?
Samuel and Adam….who will Mercy end up with? I think at this point I am rooting for Adam. I really liked him a lot, and I think his alpha ways are more in line for a long term relationship for Mercy. Plus, he is a hottie, oh yes he is. But damn Mercy, you gotta cut him a break. Hopefully in the next book she will bend a little.
Patricia Briggs has an amazing way with world building and characterization. I like how each one has their own distinct personality. No cookie cutter characterization here. That is saying something for me, because I am not a huge M/F romance reader anymore. Maybe it’s because there is not a whole lotta romance happening in this series that I like it so much. Huh, that’s something to consider.
Anyway, I think I am going to give up my aviation degree and become a mechanic. Apparently hot guys love simple girls, and I am so tempted to buy myself a garage and see how that works out for me, LOL.
Great sequel, great ending, and great girl…can’t wait to read on.
Overall Impression: I really liked it
