Blurb:  Can a Dragon and human solve the problems on a naval ship in the middle of the Pacific while falling in love?

Patrolling in the Pacific Ocean, there are problems aboard the USS Ronald Reagan.Newly appointed Lt. Commander Franklin Delano Michaels is sent to rectify the problems between the Marines and the human sailors. When he meets Marine Captain Danegeld Drake, the Dragon shape-shifter in charge of the Marine squadron, there’s an attraction that takes them by surprise.

There are more problems aboard ship than Franklin knows about. A Dragon shifter doctor whose infirmary is being sabotaged. A Dragon/human mating between one of the Marines and a Sailor. A plot against Dragons throughout the military. And a possible build-up of the Voldai, an enemy that almost defeated the allies in the ‘Almost War’. Can the two of them build a future together with all this going on?

Review:

Marines? Dragons? Marine Dragons? Oh my! This had me extremely intrigued, from the fantastic cover to the very enticing blurb.

When Franklin boards the ship, he finds the humans have basically been separated from the dragons. It seems that some humans are not that comfortable working with the dragons, and there have been a few incidents making that more than obvious. Add to that, there are a few humans who have mated with some of the dragons, which is frowned upon by both sides, but more so from the humans.

Franklin is there to be a liaison between the two. He has extensive knowledge of the dragons and their language through his brother-in-law, a dragon who is mated to Franklin’s sister. So, he has no problems with the dragons or any human/dragon relationships.

Dane is the leader of the dragon squadron. Fairly early on, he realizes Franklin is his mate and they share almost immediate attraction. I admit I was a little concerned about how things with them would play out after reading this description. “Dane’s cock was deep red in color with two rows of scales circling the head. The scales seemed to be throbbing.” But they managed without any problems and without things becoming too cheesey, and their bond grew quickly. In the meantime, they went about trying to find the source of the troublemakers.

I loved the descriptions of the dragons, their training and fighting scenes. This was a fairly light read, with the scenes moving along rather quickly from one to the next. The characters were likable, and there was just enough information given so as to not overwhelm but to give you an understanding of things. There is a bit of mystery/intrigue and action/adventure, with a side of hot man loving. I quite enjoyed this and look forward to reading more from Ms. Dease in the future.

Overall Impression:  I liked it

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in return for a fair and honest review.*
