Blurb: HELL HATH NO FURY . . .
For five thousand years, Revenant believed he was alone in the world, a fallen angel beyond any redemption. Now he finds he has a twin brother who had all the light and love Revenant was denied. Caught in a tug of war between Heaven and Hell, he must weigh his thirst for revenge against his desire for a mysterious female named Blaspheme—a female whose very origins could deliver him into salvation . . . or destruction.
LIKE AN ANGEL SCORNED
Blaspheme has a deadly secret: she’s the forbidden offspring of an angel and a fallen angel. Hunted by both heavenly and satanic forces, she has survived only by laying low and trusting no one. When Revenant claims he can save them both, how can she possibly believe him? But the powerful angel is persistence incarnate and for Blaspheme, there’s no place she can hide in Heaven or Hell where he won’t find her . .

Review: Revenant: a person who returns. Also, the newest novel in Larissa Ione’s Demonica series. In a way, the two are synonymous as the plot of the eleventh book in this very popular series of good and evil is, in fact, about a smoking hot angel who has returned. Well, in a way. It’s actually Revenant’s memory that has returned, bringing with it all the bitterness and anger only an angel raised in hell for 5,000 years and forsaken by heaven could bear.
Speaking of returns, all the warm fuzzy feelings that go along with getting your hands on the newest book in a beloved series came back to me with this book. Those feelings of familiarity and nostalgia are probably the best thing this book has going for it. Ione has built a stellar world with a mile-long list of characters we love, and returning to that was a pleasure.
The downfall, however, is that we are 11, eleven!, books into this series and it’s starting to show. While I enjoyed Revenant’s story more than his brother, Reaver’s, I still felt like it lacked fresh perspective. Revenant and his love interest, Blaspheme, didn’t seem like anything new. There was some angst, and the enemies to lovers trope is always a favorite, but the relationship build and the romance, although good, didn’t return me to that ecstatic place where I first fell in love with the Demonica series.
Plot wise, the book wraps up the battle of heaven versus hell, as this seems to be the last book in the Demonica series. Despite being the final book, the author still managed to have a few surprises up her sleeve. The actual final battle itself was a bit underwhelming. I thought they defeated Satan a little too cleanly for all his power, but I can understand that Ione needed to find a way to bring it all to an end.
Even if this is the last of a wonderful, sexy and snarky series, I know that Larissa Ione will be a revenant as well. And with her return, she will bring us another amazing world to consume us!
Overall Impression: I liked it!
