An Exclusive Excerpt from Strike of the Diamondback
by Jackie Nacht
TL shook as he stared down at the damaged Diamondback. He was fucking terrified and confused as he quickly helped Boone and Julius clean his wounds as best he could. He couldn’t believe the fight they had just had with the two strangers. TL was familiar with a lot of venom in these parts but not the two they had just fought.
This isn’t happening. I already have a mate. He can’t be mine.
But this snake was and TL feared that he was going to lose him.
Boone shouted out as Julius went down, and TL saw the bites to Julius’s hand. Boone was frantic as Cash rushed over, helping him take care of Julius. The two exchanged words, and Boone bent over and began sucking and spitting at the wound. It would help a little, but even TL knew that Julius was going to be up against a painful fight in the next couple days. Boone pulled back and passed Julius over to Cash.
Boone lost it. “He fucking bit Julius.”
TL stood as Boone went after the Diamondback, trying to protect his mate. “It wasn’t his fault. He’s out of it, Boone.”
“I’ll kill him.” Boone shoved TL aside, knocking him over.
“Don’t! He’s mine.” TL crawled over and put his body on top of the Diamondback. God, what a mess. He had never even told Boone about Rio because it was always easier to wear the cheerful mask when everyone was ignorant to the pain inside.
Boone stopped in his tracks. TL watched him swallow with difficulty. “Yours?”
TL licked his dry lips as he glanced down at his mate. Would he even make it through the night? “Yes.”
Boone stared hard at the snake. “Clean the wounds; he’s showing signs of infection in some of them.”
TL nodded, staring over at Julius and Cash. Julius was seriously hurt. “You’ll need to keep sucking out his venom,” TL rasped out.
Boone nodded and turned to his mate.
TL took the cloth that had been given to him and began gently cleaning the grime and blood off his snake. The breathing was off, and he knew they were less than a day from the colony. “Boone, we need to get to the colony tonight. Can you carry Julius?”
Boone glanced over at him and nodded. “But can you carry him? He’s a lot taller than you, maybe even heavier, though he’s scales and bone.”
Cash came forward, the handsome blue-ringed octopus. “I’ll help you, TL. We’ll get him there.” Cash bent down and gently picked up the rattler.
TL bit his lip as he walked alongside Cash, forever grateful to the octopus.
About Strike of the Diamondback
Two years ago, TL came across his fire ant mate, Rio. Duty kept them apart, and they were only able to love each other from afar.
When Striker escapes the tortures of the anti-venom pack, running into the wild, he didn’t expect to encounter his mate. However, he is a shell of his former self, broken from the abuse done to him.
Rio saved TL once, and when his TL comes to ask for help, Rio finds himself shocked that the venom he’s always loved is holding their mate, a mate they’ll have to heal together.

About Jackie Nacht
Short, sexy and sweet— where a little love goes a long way.
That’s the best way to describe Jackie Nacht’s stories. She was introduced to M/M Romance through her sister, Stephani, and read it for years. Then, she thought it was time to put her own stories on paper. Jackie began writing short and sweet stories that ended with a happily ever after.
Thinking back to her own book addiction, where there were many nights Jackie stayed up way too late so she could read just one more chapter— yeah, right— Jackie decided to write short romances for young adults as well as adults. Hopefully, they will give high school and college students, or working men and women something they can read during their lunch hour, in between classes or just when they want to briefly get away from the daily stresses of everyday life.

*shivers* Neither snakes or bugs. LOL. Looking forward to rereading.
I don’t like snakes or bugs!
I like to see snakes behind glass at a zoo, and only like a few bugs like butterflies and ladybugs.
Not a fan of snakes or bugs. Except for butterflies – I like them!
Snakes are pretty damn cool (from a safe distance), but bugs… well I prefer to avoid them at all costs. LOL
