Blurb: The Others freed the  cassandra sangue  to protect the blood prophets from exploitation, not realizing their actions would have dire consequences. Now the fragile seers are in greater danger than ever before—both from their own weaknesses and from those who seek to control their divinations for wicked purposes. In desperate need of answers, Simon Wolfgard, a shape-shifter leader among the Others, has no choice but to enlist blood prophet Meg Corbyn’s help, regardless of the risks she faces by aiding him.

Meg is still deep in the throes of her addiction to the euphoria she feels when she cuts and speaks prophecy. She knows each slice of her blade tempts death. But Others and humans alike need answers, and her visions may be Simon’s only hope of ending the conflict.

For the shadows of war are deepening across the Atlantik, and the prejudice of a fanatic faction is threatening to bring the battle right to Meg and Simon’s doorstep…

I read this book over a week ago and I’m still struggling with what to say. It’s just hard to describe my emotions for this one or even the series in general. This book, though, is definitely one of my favorites. This whole series so far as been phenomenal and I absolutely adore where it is heading.

I’m not going to go into detail about the plot because, to be honest, it will just sound confusing or I’d ramble on and on about it. So, I’m just going to say this: the book was freaking awesome! I absolutely love that it still has it’s gritty feel to it. I love that this one picked up where Murder of Crows ended while at the same time, revealing another issue within the world. It was interesting to see how the prophecies were doing while also getting into the mystery about Monty’s daughter and how the Others deal with human children.

I love that everyone, but Simon especially, are slowly becoming more accepting of humans all because of Meg while still maintaining their animalistic personalities. I absolutely ADORE the fact that Meg is becoming more fierce and taking on some of the wolf-type characteristics. I love, love, love that Meg and Simon get closer and closer with each book. There’s just SOOOO much chemistry between them. I just wish they’d figure it out sooner and explore that part of their relationship! It’s killing me seeing how they dance around each other, not realizing what’s between them while obviously showing how much their care. It makes me YEARN for that book when they take things to the next level!

In the end, an AMAZING addition to the series. I can’t express enough how much I’m loving where this series is going. I love the characters, the world, the plot and most of all the chemistry! I’m sad that I have to wait a year to read the next in the series but I already know I’ll be rereading this one again soon… and I already bought all three books in audio so I’ll be listening to them too!

Overall Impression: It was Amazing!

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in return for a fair and honest review.*
