Blurb: Can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.

As the sole offspring of the Democratic United States president and his political operative wife, Trevor Moga was raised in an environment driven by the election cycle. During childhood, he fantasized about living in a made-for-television family, and as an adult, he rejected all things politics and built a highly successful career as far from his parents as possible.

Newly elected congressman Ford Hollingsworth is Republican royalty. The grandson of a revered governor and son of a respected senator, he was bred to value faith, family, and the goal of seeing a Hollingsworth in the White House.

When Trevor and Ford meet, sparks fly and a strong friendship is formed. But can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.

Review:

As a congressman and the son of a Senator, Ford has lived almost his whole life hiding his sexuality but he believes in his work and he believes in honoring his duty. So when he picks up a stranger in a bar, he only expects a one night stand. Instead, he meets the son of the Democratic President, Trevor. What starts as a simple night together turns into so much more when they can’t get each other out of their minds. Unfortunately, Trevor’s completely out while Ford’s in the closet and no matter what their feelings are for one another, the question still stands: how long will Trevor put up with being Ford’s dirty little secret? And if the time comes, will Ford choose his career or Trevor?

I absolutely adored the premise of this story. I loved the whole Republican/Democratic vibe to it because it led to some very interesting conversations. I also liked that Ford was so uptight and paranoid while Trevor was more laid-back and calm. As individuals, they’re complete opposites but they actually had a lot in common – they had the same base beliefs (even if they were slightly different) and wanted the same things. I really enjoyed seeing them exploring the minefield of trying to hide their relationship while also trying to be together as much as possible.

My biggest issue with the story was that there was a lot of sex… so much that I felt like you didn’t really get to see the characters in a setting outside the bedroom or in a sexual manner. I wanted to see more of them when Ford came out; wanted to see how the public reacted; how meeting Trevor’s parents went. How/if people treated Ford or Trevor differently now that Ford came out and then jumped into a marriage. I just wanted to see more of them AFTER. There was so much lead up of being closeted and coming out that I was disappointed there wasn’t more focus on what happened after Ford came out. I’d also have liked to know how the public found out Ford was gay. Did he announce it or did the press uncover it? After Ford made the decision to not hide, it was like everything was rushed from then on and you didn’t any answers to the numerous questions that inevitably came up.

In the end, though, I actually really liked the story. It was a great concept of a closeted politician starting a relationship with the OUT son of a politician who hated politics. I loved the dynamics between Ford and Trevor and how they were so different but fit so well together. I loved their banter and the raw emotions between them. If you’re looking for a smutty but interesting story with politicians, definitely give this one a go.

Overall Impression: I liked it!
