Blurb: Sascha’s world changed when Cashiel Michaud bought him, rescuing him from a brothel and a life of torture. They developed a sexual relationship, but can their relationship amount to more than that? Deceit, lies, and political scandal color not only their world, but their relationship, and dark figures from both men’s pasts threaten to intrude on the few moments of peace they have. A slave is never safe from harm, nor is an outcast family member. In the end, are Sascha and Cash strong enough to face the challenges, or will they be torn apart forever?
Review: I was very drawn to this story when I started it and that feeling picked right back up when I began this book. Sascha and Cash are doing well at this point, with their precarious relationship, both sexual and working. But, things are getting trickier for these guys as Cash’s work gets more involved and more people are needed to be brought into the fold. Cash must put his trust in Sascha in order to keep him safe, even though doing so will make him even more of a target. It is much easier for Sascha to play the part once he knows the stakes, but he ends up suffering quite a bit for the cause.
To add insult to injury, Sascha’s brother resurfaces to save him from his master. Sascha is torn with wanting to go with his family and not wanting to leave Cash. Trust comes into play again, and once again, it is exploited. Thinking it the best way to keep Sascha safe if he is out of the picture, he pushes Sascha to go with his brother. Thankfully, Sascha’s smarts help him out once again.
Cash’s evil mother is getting nosier and closer trying to pull more of Cash’s strings. Unfortunately, it is the same man who was one of Cash’s mom’s top trainer/torturers, who they need on their side. His payment? 12 hours with Sascha. Even with the stipulations and warnings in place, Sascha endures horrible things at the hands of this man. My heart broke for him all over again.
There is a lot going on here, even though it seems as if not much time has passed. Things are getting more and more risky as Cash’s research unfolds. People are needed to back the research/plan, but trusting anyone enough to bring them in makes things a bit exciting. The guys are having to work harder than ever to keep things hidden and keep up appearances, and the anticipation of screw ups is very high. I’m even more invested in this story and these characters and really look forward to seeing where this goes next.
Overall Impression: I loved it
