Blurb: When one down-on-his-luck gardener and one garden centre owner meet, neither could predict the attraction they’d feel towards each other. Toby is just about turning round the business he’d inherited from his dad, and it’s all going well—until a risk he took looks like it might not pay off. Rhys’s employment at Toby’s garden centre is temporary, just to cover the Christmas sales, and frankly he’d much rather be outside gardening. And avoiding Christmas.

When an accident means Toby can’t be at work at a crucial time, it’s time for Rhys to step up to the mark. But can the Christmas Scrooge make the difference required for the man he’s starting to love?

All Rhys wants is to be a gardner but when he’s laid off from his job, he takes one at the local gardner center. It’s not as bad as he expected when he gets to spend all his time outside and with his hunky new boss, Toby. Toby inherited the gardner center from his father and he’s doing his best to turn it around even when that means making a risky move. When that move turns out to not be as profitable as expected, Rhys takes it upon himself to help Toby as much as he can.

I enjoyed this little short story. At first, Rhys is a little depressed but as the story goes on and he gets closer to Toby, he starts to realize what he wants in life and what can make him happy. Toby is a little bit of a mystery but I liked Toby and Rhys together. I felt like Rhys made Toby feel younger and Rhys definitely liked being around Toby.

This was a super cute story but my biggest issue with it was how much was ‘told’ instead of ‘shown’. I wanted to experience Rhys and Toby together, see their shifts together and conversations. Because most of it was told, I felt like I still didn’t know the characters once the story was over. On top of that, there was way too much sex for my tastes for such a short story.

In the end, this was a cute little Christmas story. I enjoyed seeing how much Rhys and Toby obviously had in common but wanted to actually experience their bonding instead of being told of it. If you’re looking for a cute, quick Xmas story, though, definitely give this a go!

Overall Impression: I liked it!

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in return for a fair and honest review.*
