Blurb: Henry hates Christmas shopping. Hates it with a passion. But here he is, downtown shopping two days before Christmas. It would almost be bearable except for the jerk in the trapper hat and plaid scarf who keeps turning up like a bad penny, apparently with no other goal in life than to make Henry’s already crappy day even crappier. Henry doesn’t know what’s up with the guy, but Henry wishes he’d just go away. That doesn’t seem to be in the cards, however. In a day full of surprises, the biggest is yet to come.
Review:
Henry’s doing some last minute shopping when one bad thing after another keeps happening at the expense of one entirely oblivious guy. After ruined pants, a stolen bear and a hit dog, Henry’s day has gone to shit and the last thing he wants is to go to his sister’s Christmas party but when he goes, he comes face to face with the guy who made all those bad things happen.
I liked this one because of a few reasons. For one, I enjoyed this author’s writing. Two, I liked the concept of Henry having a ‘bad day’ because of one person. Three, I found it charming BUT I had a few issues with it. Mainly, the word ‘trapper’ was used way too many times to the point of annoying. I also found Clint’s reason for being so oblivious too easy and not entirely believable. That doesn’t really give him an excuse for the way he acted.. after all, he’s a cop he should be able to multitask and be aware of EVERYTHING around him also, where was his backup??
In the end, this was a cute story with a charming premise. I had a few issues but I think if you’re looking for a short, fun story give this one a go!
Overall Impression: I liked it!
