Blurb: Travel agent Jarrett Joynson won’t let his cheating boyfriend spoil his dream vacation, but being alone in Hawaii is more difficult than he imagined. When his attempts to catch a new lover fail, he turns to his Wiccan faith to ask the moon for guidance.
Shark shape-shifter Kainalu Enakai is in a similar position. His last relationship fell apart because he couldn’t share the truth with his boyfriend. Now Kainalu is on the prowl, looking for a new distraction.
When the moon draws Jarrett and Kainalu together, sparks fly. But the old scars on both their hearts cause trouble between them. If they cannot learn to trust each other, it will put not only their relationship in danger, but possibly Jarrett’s life.
When Jarrett finds out his boyfriend is cheating on him, he decides to still go on his trip to Hawaii and use that time to get over his ex. There he meets Kainalu when he looks to his faith for a little help. Kainalu recently broke up with his boyfriend as well because he couldn’t share that he was a shark shifter. But when the two meet, they might just find the one person they can share their secrets with.
This wasn’t necessarily a bad story but for such a short story, it was hard for me to keep reading. I liked that Kainalu was a shark shifter and that Jarrett was so open-minded to shifters since he’s Wiccan. It was interesting to see how this one night stand turned into something more. However, while it’s a nice little story, it’s hard for me to see this relationship going anywhere considering it feels like a rebound relationship so the ending was a little off putting for me.
In the end, this was a cute story. I liked that it dealt with a shark shifter and a Wiccan and how they’re both trying to heal. If you’re looking for a quick, cute little story definitely give this one a go.
Overall Impression: It was okay
