Blurb: Kithric, an aging dragon tamer, leads a solitary life atop his mountain, until the day he accidentally traps a dragon that is more than he seems. Expecting to be killed for capturing a dragon shifter, Kithric instead finds himself spared and left to deal with his continued solitude.

He finds he can’t be rid of Ylfrin the dragon shifter that easily, though, and as Ylfrin continues to return, bit by bit Kithric begins to fall for him and starts to value using what life he has left to the fullest. But before he and Ylfrin can explore their feelings, they must first confront dangers and corrupt forces encroaching from outside Kithric’s Mountain.

Kithric’s lived a long time as a dragon tamer to the point that he’s not sure how much longer he can be one. When he accidentally captures a dragon shifter, he doesn’t expect Ylfrin to stick around and even more surprising is when he keeps showing back up, lessening Kithric’s loneliness. But when men come for Kithric, he’s too old to deal with the danger they bring and Kithric might not make it long enough to wait for when Ylfrin shows back up again.

I really, really loved this story! Kithric broke my heart with how lonely and ready for the end he was. He’s the kind of character I really love, one that needs some love of his own! When Ylfrin shows up, Kithric doesn’t want anything to do with him but Ylfrin keeps showing up over and over even though it’s obvious he’s not wanted. I loved that Ylfrin wouldn’t give up and the connection that formed between them during a little bit of a rough time for Kithric. My only problem is I wish it were LONGER. I wanted to see more of these two and what happens next!

In the end, this was a great little short story. I loved both Kithric and Ylfrin and their time together. The fact that Ylfrin wouldn’t give up on Kithric really made me enjoy this story. I hope the author considers writing a sequel because I absolutely adored these characters and this world!

Overall Impression: I really liked it!

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in return for a fair and honest review.*
