Blurb: Former US Marine John Ving hates everything about holiday displays: they’re tacky, they waste energy, and they’re an eyesore. So what does his new neighbor do? He sets up the holiday spectacle from hell, and he doesn’t seem to care which holiday—he has a menorah, a baby Jesus, a Santa, and everything in between. Not to mention it’s swathed in enough lights his house is probably visible from space.
High-school teacher Kaden Melling loves the holidays, and huge light displays on his lawn make his heart glow. He’d love to share some cheer—and maybe some kinky fun—with his smoking hot neighbor John. Odd things start to happen to his displays, but just as he begins to think life is going his way, with the holidays and with John, a Grinch destroys everything.
It’s gonna take the display-hating John to set things right—and what he has planned might blow Kaden’s mind.
Review:
John hates the Christmas holiday so when his new neighbor, Kaden, turns out to be the exact opposite and has a whole display of holiday decorations, John’s far from pleased. Until he has to watch his nephews and Kaden, comes over to share the holiday cheer. Before they know it, they’re spending more and more time together but when Kaden’s Christmas spirit takes a huge blow, it’s up to John to step in and show Kaden what the holidays are really about.
OMG, can I just say I absolutely LOVED this story! I’ll be completely honest and haven’t really read any of the blurbs for these advent stories so I didn’t really know what it was about but characters who hate Christmas are one of my favorites. I loved John because of that reason but also because he tried to pretend he hated Christmas but couldn’t help but be caught up in the holiday spirit. Kaden was a ball of joy because of his unapologetic enthusiasm for all things to do with the holidays. I loved them together and I especially liked the way Kaden encouraged time with John AND his nephews, it was just too sweet!
I ADORED this book but I was a little flabbergasted at what happened to Kaden’s decorations. I mean, who does that and how is that person not caught? Especially considering who Kaden’s brother is. And how did John not realize what was happening? I mean, they couldn’t have done it so quickly and definitely not quietly so I was a little put off by that, which lessened my enjoyment just a bit.
In the end, I still really enjoyed the story. I loved the characters and I loved that Kaden brought a little spirit back to John’s hatred of the Christmas holiday. I also loved John’s nephews so much! They were just too stinking adorable! I definitely encourage readers to give this one a try!!
Overall Impression: I really liked it!
