Blurb: As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell – and trimonite, the hardest material known to man.
When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey. Hoop and his associates uncover a nest of Xenomorphs, and hell takes on a new meaning. Quickly they discover that their only hope lies with the unlikeliest of saviors….
Ellen Ripley, the last human survivor of the salvage ship Nostromo.
So totally worth every minute of this four and half hour audiobook. It was, without a doubt, the best performance I’ve ever listened to in an audiobook. It was almost as if I was lying on my couch, with my eyes closed, and listening to a movie playing on the television. It is not only a story that is being read to you, but a major production that has multiple narrators that bring authenticity to the experience.
In addition to experiencing the emotions and fear of the players, we also hear the groans and noises of the ship, the screeching of the aliens, and the animated voice of the android who is hell bent on preserving an alien to return to earth…with the crew being expendable. This was a great original drama based on the ALIEN movies that we all loved and freaked out over many moons ago, and having Ripley return for this performance just completely enhanced the experience.
If you loved the Alien movies, do yourself a big favor and listen to this audiobook. If you haven’t, listen to this anyway, because you will figure out quickly what you need to know. Loved it, and look forward to the next installment.
Overall Impression: I loved it!
