Blurb: “His name is Salvatore Rossi. He’s a vampire. And he’s my true mate.”

By not relying on anyone except himself, Salvatore Rossi escaped a dead-end existence and reached the height of corporate success. But just when he has everything he always wanted, fate throws Salvatore a challenge he can’t solve alone and a young wolf shifter comes to his rescue.

Since childhood, Yoram Smith’s family was certain he would grow to become Alpha and save their beloved pack from its slow demise. When the time comes for a new leader, Yoram is forced to juggle his duty to care for a splintering pack with his duty to care for an absent mate, and his own strength suffers.

Being turned into a vampire didn’t alter Salvatore’s life philosophy: if you don’t rely on anyone, nobody can let you down. But when the boy who saved his life becomes a man who needs his help, the icy vampire must find his humanity.

Review: I am so not sure how to rate this book. I almost feel the need to review it in sections, maybe even use bullet points, because my thoughts are all over the place, and my ratings were from 2.5 to 5 stars depending on the chapter.

To begin with, Sal was a horrible, horrible man turned vampire…and not just for a couple days, weeks, or years, but for decades. He was selfish, arrogant, and entitled. He treated Yorry (his true mate), whom he met when Yoram was only seven years old, like he was less than the crud on the bottom of his shoes. So, the first part of this book was barely a three stars for me because the progression of the Yorry and Sal relationship took way too long and over half the book. I knew it would get better, but when I realized that, I was already halfway through their story, and they weren’t even in the same state, let alone talking to one another. I knew it had to end on a high note or it would be a complete bust.

Well, the fact that I gave it a four star rating means that once they finally, FINALLY, got together, the heat factor went sky high and the past transgressions, though kind of pushed under the carpet, were all but forgiven. In this case, I knew Yorry was a strong man and a victim of his shifter make-up and so he didn’t hold the past against Sal. I did…for a little while, but I got over it. Especially since Yorry was an alpha, larger and stronger, and no longer the lost little boy turned teen turned twenty-seven year old who was being rejected by his true mate.

I know it sounds awful, and parts of it were, but the ending was sweet, and getting to see Ethan, from a previous book, welcomed back into the pack made it all worthwhile.

Overall Impression: I really liked it!

*I received a copy of this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.*
