Blurb: Can this romance stand a snowball’s chance in hell?

Hitting a dog in a snowstorm is a heck of a way to meet a guy. When August Long rushes an injured stray to the vet, he’s blown away by the gruff yet sexy doctor. August never intended to hook up with a small-town local, but Eric Grover woos him with snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and a passion hot enough to melt the winter snow.

No one seems to know why an ex-military surveyor has moved into Hopewell Springs and Eric is intrigued by the stranger. Tall, handsome August lights his fire while filling a need for companionship he hadn’t realized he lacked. Spending time with August and Bear, his recovering German shepherd, makes Eric begin to believe love is possible.

But there’s a shadow threatening their budding romance. August fears telling Eric everything his job entails and keeps the secret until the truth detonates, nearly destroying them. For the two men to reconcile their differences, it may take a Christmas miracle—and the intervention of an adorable dog or two.

Review:

This was such a cute, fun little story! It’s about August who accidentally hits a stray dog on his way home. Rushing him to the vet, August meets sexy vet Eric who’s none to pleased that August hit a dog and doesn’t want to take care of him. Before August knows it, he’s taking the dog in, naming him Bear and giving Eric an excuse to see August again. What starts off as a possible friendship turns into so much more but Eric isn’t really out to the town and August is only there for work. Will they be able to work through their obstacles especially when August is keeping a huge secret from Eric?

This was such a cute story!! I was totally into the book as soon as I read the blurb but when I started reading, I was sucked in right away. I loved the connection August and Eric had and how much Eric was able to make August feel like complete dirt for hitting a dog on accident. August and Eric are such different characters but they fit really well together. It was fascinating to see how much they had in common and what fun there was in each others’ company but I especially loved the moments with Bear. I mean, Bear brought them together and he was just such a sweet, lovable little guy!!! I couldn’t get enough of him!

While I adored the story, I really wish there had been more of a spotlight on the dates August and Eric had together. I loved what we experience but a few of their dates sounded like so much fun but we were told instead of shown them. Also, I wish we could have seen more of the aftermath of August’s huge secret. I would have liked to see how the town reacted to him – at the town meeting and how they took Eric and August being together.

In the end, though, this was an amazing little story. It sucked me in right from the start and I just loved Eric, August and Bear. I wished it had been a little more fleshed out but as it is, this story is just a load of fun with a dash of angst thrown in for kicks. Definitely give this a go if you want a quick, entertaining story!

Overall Impression: I really liked it!
