Blurb: When Nicco found his mate at the age of sixteen, he knew he could not claim him. Thad was too young for him, but that didn’t stop Nicco from checking in on his mate. One day, Thad comes to Nicco to say goodbye and inform Nicco that he is leaving. The pain of losing his mate, even without claiming him, is too great and Nicco is forced to turn to a witch to place a spell on him to block the agony, so that he could go on.

Now, eleven years later, a stalker terrorizes Thad, and he turns to ParaSafe for protection, but he is unprepared for the cold man his mate has become. Realizing that it has to be the spell that is causing Nicco’s strange behavior, they must find the witch in time to reverse the spell so that Thad can stand by his mate in the upcoming battle, or they will all be doomed.

Besides the original Angel Pack wolves, the vampires tend to be my favorite paranormals in this series. They are big, strong and powerful, but seem to have hearts of gold. I loved Nicco and was so excited for him to finally find his mate, but Fate gave him to him too soon, and then took him away. Nicco literally broke my heart. Thad and Nicco were pretty awesome together, and since I get squeaked out with teenagers and men hooking up, a big part of me was glad it worked out the way it did. It was a heartbreaker for Nicco, but all good things to those who wait, right? Right.

I must admit that I struggled a bit at the beginning. There seemed to be so many storylines going on at once that I was really getting confused…but you have to read them through because they are all interrelated and, though it takes a while to figure it out, it was important to follow it through to the end. Still confusing for a while, but worth it.

As with the original series, with the “Beyond” series, we are all heading in one direction and I know the war is coming soon. I am so not ready.

Overall Impression: I really liked it!

*I received a copy of this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.*
