Blurb: Kelly Cannon is satisfied with his life. He has friends, a wonderful family, and a great job. But his love life has reached a new level of pitiful. Why? Well, his heart decided to break all the rules. Don’t fall in love with a straight guy. And definitely don’t fall in love with your best friend.
NFL standout Britton “Blue” Montgomery has pressure coming at him from all sides. From his father, who’s only interested in Blue’s football career. From his coaches, who just want him to play without getting injured again. From the fans. From his agent. And from his mother, who has popped up on the radar after leaving his family years before. And now his relationship with Kelly is on shaky ground, and that frightens Blue more than anything.
When Kelly admits he’s in love with Blue, bonds are tested, and Blue has to decide what’s really important. He doesn’t want to lose the number-one person in his life, but the cost to keep Kelly close might be more than he’s willing to pay.
It’s a good thing his nickname is the Blueprint—it’s time to draft a new set of plans.
Review: I loved this…no, seriously, I absolutely loved this audiobook. The story was written with amazing dialogue, and the author nailed it…but I have to tell you, these two narrators, Sean Crisden and Alexander Cendese, they took an amazing book and turned into one fantastic journey. This is definitely the case where the narration made the story. Kelly’s character had me laughing my ass off. He was such a kooky and adorable, non-filtered geek, and the narrator brought him to life in the most incredible way possible. I could not put this one down. Yes, it is that good. And Blue? I want my own Blue. Kelly is the best friend we all need in our lives, but Blue is the keeper, the dream come true…and he was all Kelly’s…even though neither of them knew it for a while.
Blue is dense, smart but dense. He has killer abs, he’s a future hall of fame football player, and he is dense. It takes him freaking forever to realize that the person of his dreams has been in front of his eyes since he was a kid. And Kelly? Kelly hated that he perved on his straight best friend. He has been in love with Blue since forever, but Blue is straight…until he’s not. Now it gets interesting, and hot, and wowza these two are smoking hot together.
I loved this audiobook, people. Trust me on this one. These narrators need to collaborate on future projects because they really do work well as a team, and their voices just gel together. I could easily distinguish Blue from Kelly, and they sounded just like I expected them to sound. You run the gamut of emotions because the narration doesn’t skimp on anything, and the goofiness of Kelly and Blue together keeps a smile on your face, even when you feel bad for them.
This is a series and audiobook that I highly recommend, and I can’t wait for the sequel to come out in audio as I will be listening to that one, too.
Overall Impression: It was amazing!
