Blurb: Anxious to escape the confines of Regelence society, if only for a little while, Prince Payton Townsend poses as an admiral’s aide to further investigate a dangerous conspiracy. Payton plans only to use his computer skills to help navigate the tangled web of mystery and deceit on planet Englor, then return home, but he finds himself drawn to the charismatic Colonel Simon Hollister.

Simon, however, is no mere soldier—he is heir to the throne of Englor, and his life is meticulously planned to include a bride and heir. Unlike Regelence, the Regency society on Englor disapproves of same-sex relationships, and Payton and Simon’s attraction plays out in a daring secret affair, one Simon never expected would grow into love.

Risking scandal and certain ruin if they are discovered, Payton and Simon uncover more about a common enemy and a deadly plot that imperils both their worlds. But in this game of interplanetary intrigue, love might be the ultimate casualty….

Review:

I’m a little biased when it comes to this book because I’ve literally read it at least once a year since it first release in 2008. It’s one of my favorite reads because not only do I love Payton and Si is a ginger but the connection between them is just so amazing that even after a dozen reads, my heart still clinches and my stomach still flutters when I read this book. You can check out my original review for it on Goodreads.

For me, Payton is just such an intriguing character. I love that he’s such an amazing hacker but I also love the culture shock he goes through when he’s on Englor. It’s completely different than the life he’s used to as a prince on Regelence and seeing him experience the life of a soldier was just fascinating. When he meets Si, it was intriguing to see the connection between them but also how Si just couldn’t stay away. And I loved that he introduced Payton to the naughtier entertainments that are out there.

I couldn’t get enough of these two but as with Nate and Aiden, there was too much sex for me. Instead of talking through their issues, they had sex instead… as if that would change things especially with the betrayal between them. But their relationship helps them find the link between Englor and Regelence so I overlooked all that LOL.

In the end, this was just as great a read this time around as it was when I first read it. I love Simon and Payton as characters and I love them together as a couple. I love the chemistry between them but also how they were able to work together. I can’t wait to read more in this series and hope we get more of not just the Townsend boys but also more men from Englor too!

Overall Impression: I loved it!

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in return for a fair and honest review.*
