Blurb: Stetson Major and Curtis Traynor are about as opposite as two cowboys can get. Stetson is a rancher, tied to the land he loves in Taos, New Mexico, while Curtis is a rodeo cowboy whose wanderlust never could be tamed.

But now Stetson’s momma is dying of Alzheimer’s, and she can’t remember that Curtis hasn’t been Stetson’s boyfriend for a long time. Curtis’s absence makes her cry, so Stetson swallows his pride and calls his ex-lover.

To Curtis, Stetson is the one who got away, the love of his life. And Momma is his friend, so he’s happy to help out. Yet returning to the ranch stirs up all sorts of feelings that, while buried, never really went away. Still, the rodeo nationals are coming up, and Curtis can’t stay… even if he’s starting to want to, especially to support Stetson when he needs it most.

Stetson and Curtis want to find a place where they both fit, to be there to catch each other when they fall. But family, money problems, and the call of the rodeo circuit might end their second-chance romance before it even gets started.

Review:

This story just about broke my heart. It starts off really sad because Stetson’s mom is loving her fight with Alzheimer’s and he calls Curtis for help. I really loved that Curtis dropped everything and showed up for Stetson especially since they hadn’t spoken to each other in 8 years. It was sweet and while both had changed significantly, the sparks between them never changed. It was sweet seeing Curtis step up and take care of Stetson. It really melt my heart and kept me reading. I also loved that they didn’t just pick up where they left off. They both had a few issues and while they worked through those, they realized that their lives were better together. There’s a bit of sadness with this because of Stetson’s mom but Stetson is an interesting guy who has a lot of respect and friends in the community and they all banded together to help him through things. Curtis was super intriguing because he’s at the pinnacle of his career and he knows it. The two together are very sweet and I couldn’t stop reading once I started.

I really, really loved Stetson and Curtis but sometimes it just became too sweet. I mean I loved it because I love second chance stories and I loved that Curtis was deadset on making things with Stetson work again but sometimes it was too sweet and it was too much at times to read. Then it would be come too smutty so it was hard to shift between then two.

All in all, though, this was a book I couldn’t put down once I started. I love Stetson and Curtis as characters but I love that they’re trying to find their way towards something again. I really enjoyed their story and the friends they have. I hope this isn’t the last we see of them because I really want more of these two!

Overall Impression: I really liked it!
