Blurb: He’d risk his life to find his brother. But he never expected to risk his heart as well.

Three months since his brother, Jake, went MIA, Lane Matthews is tired of waiting for answers. With a little help, he arranges a posting to Jeddah for his first overseas deployment—the perfect opportunity to find his brother.

Life in a foreign land isn’t quite like he imagined and neither are his duties. But when he meets his housemate, Tristan, while it may be memorable, it’s not one of Lane’s finest moments.

Tristan threatens to throw him way off course, and falling for the hot straight soldier is definitely not in his plans. But as tensions rise and the truth about Jake is revealed, will Lane’s heart follow orders or will all be lost like grains of sand swept away in a desert?

Review:

This was a super cute story! I loved that Lane, who didn’t want to be a full time soldier, requested to be posted in Jeddah so he can try to find his missing brother. I enjoyed seeing his struggle with his demons over his brother being gone. I liked that Tristan and Lane were housemates and how sweet Tristan was with Lane even though Lane was a little immature at times and would just take off. It was really sweet how gentle Tristan was with Lane and I really enjoyed them together.

While this was a cute little story, I felt like it was too short. I wanted to see things more developed and fleshed out. I liked that Tristan and Lane became close so quickly but I would have liked to know the characters a bit more because Tristan is still an enigma. Add to that, I felt like the way Lane uncovered information about his brother was a little too convenient and I felt like the whole thing just happened so quickly with that. Since the whole story revolves around Lane coming to find his brother, I would have liked there to be more focus on what really happened and for the general reveal to have more depth to it but also being able to see what happened after the reveal.

All in all, this was a cute little story. I adored Tristan and Lane as characters and their time together. I think this one would have benefited being a full length novel, though, because I would have liked to see it more fleshed out. At times, it just felt too rushed and this one had so much potential, I would have liked to see things slowed down a bit. Definitely give it a go if you’re looking for something cute and sweet.

Overall Impression:  I liked it!
