Blurb: Socialite Lindsey Vanessen wants someone to love who will love him back — an impossibility for a gay, half-human, half-werewolf. Too aggressive for humans, too gay for wolves, and needing to protect the pack from human discovery, Lindsey tries to content himself with life as a successful businessman. But when someone starts kidnapping members of wealthy families, Lindsey meets tough cop Seth Zakowsy—the hunky embodiment of everything Lindsey wants but can’t have.
Seth has never been attracted to flamboyant men. What would the guys in the department think of Lindsey? But intrigue turns to lust when he discovers Lindsey’s biting, snarling passion more than matches his dominant side. It might mean a chance at love for a cop in black leather and a wolf in Gucci loafers.
Review:
Lindsey is a walking, talking, contradiction. He is as flamboyant as one can get, and also as alpha as one can get as well. He loves his purple Gucci loafers and lavender neck scarves, but he will also kick your ass six ways from Sunday. He is an enigma; one that Seth has no idea how to handle. On the one hand he is embarrassed by his effeminate actions and is afraid of what his fellow officers would think of him, but on the other hand he has never been more turned on by the aggression that Lindsey exudes in the bedroom.
Lindsey is half human, half werewolf; and an extremely wealthy socialite, but not a very good werewolf and not totally accepted in the pack. The chance of him finding another gay werewolf is slim to none; but at the same time he can never let a human know of the werewolves’ existence. In other words, he is destined to be alone.
Seth is leather wearing, alpha male cop who loves to be the top dog. He loves aggression and is beyond confused over his attraction to Lindsey…until he meets Lindsey’s aggressive side; then he’s in love. But these guys are from two different worlds, even more so than Seth even realizes, and neither can figure out a way to bridge that chasm and make it work.
Someone is kidnapping the kids from wealthy families in exchange for a ransom. The kids are not hurt but are released after the ransom is paid. This is how Seth and Lindsey meet…but Lindsey has a secret. He is the super granny who pretends to be elderly while in pursuit of being a vigilante. He is awesome, he is hilarious, and he pisses Seth off tremendously when he’s caught.
These guys really struggled to find a way to fit together, and besides the hot sex, it just seemed impossible…until Cole, his best friend and alphanta (from book one) figures out a way to make it happen. The ending seemed a little contrived but it was really the only way it could work so I went with it.
Therefore, if you are in the mood for a light hearted shifter story with a purple Gucci loafer wearing werewolf who can kick ass while wearing a dress than I recommend this book. It’s cute, it’s funny, it’s got a little mystery action going on and it’s got some animalistic hot sex between two aggressive tops. What’s not to love?
Overall Impression: I really liked it
