Blurb: When Alexander James Noble looks in the mirror, he sees a freak looking back at him. Despite his high grades and plans for culinary arts school after graduation, his parents would hate him if they really knew him.

Forced on a shopping trip with his twin sister, Lyric, and her friends, Alex eyes the girls jealously, longing to be able to dress like them—to be them. The constant struggle of being “gender fluid,” wrestling with an identity that seems to change daily, begins to wear on Alex. But all those questions and fears seem more manageable when his sister gives him his first skirt and lace panties.

When I read Temptations of Desire, I was intrigued by Alex’s childhood and how/when he understood he was gender fluid. So, when I saw this FREE little short coming out, I was eager to really get a taste of him back then. Especially since I knew he would be a completely different person than in ToD.

In this short story, Alex is only sixteen and struggles with wanting to try on girl’s clothes. When he’s forced to go on a shopping trip with his sister, he can’t help but eye a skirt he desperately wants to buy but knows he can’t. That doesn’t stop his twin sister, Lyric, from seeing his yearning and buys the skirt for him. With a little help from her, Alex finally can indulge in something he’s wanted for a while but also understand a little bit about who he really is and his desire to be fem some days.

I really enjoyed this story because it definitely allowed me to experience Alex back then. I loved seeing him wrestling with himself and his desires, his struggle with thinking normal boys shouldn’t want to try on lace panties and skirts but unable to stop himself from yearning for it. I loved seeing that especially since I’ve already read Temptations of Desire and know what a strong man he turns out being.

Best of all, I loved seeing Lyric play such a big part of Alex discovering who he is because it just cemented how much she loves him. If you’ve read the Desires Entwined series and you’ve enjoyed them, definitely read this short story because it’s a great little teaser to an already good series!

Overall Impression: It was amazing!

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in return for a fair and honest review but it’s available FREE at Dreamspinner Press.*
