Blurb: History isn’t always what it seems.

With the battle of Egypt behind them, Alec and Cronin are enjoying the thrill of new love. Though fate doesn’t wait long before throwing them back into the world of weird.

They know Alec’s blood is special, though its true purpose still eludes them. And given Alec’s inability to be changed into a vampire, Cronin is free to drink from him at will. But the ramifications of drinking such powerful blood starts a ripple effect.

With the help of Jorge, a disturbing vampire-child with the gift of foresight, Alec and Cronin face a new kind of war. This time their investigations lead them to the borders of China and Mongolia—but it’s not what lies in the pits beneath that worries Alec.

It’s the creator behind it all.

In the underground depths of China, amidst a war with the Terracotta Army, they will find out just what the Key is, and what Alec means to the vampire world.

Review: I was so eager to continue the saga of Alex and Cronin, and I was not disappointed. I was even more excited to find out there will be a book three. Alex and Cronin are two of the most highly sexual beings I’ve ever read about… and it’s an adorable combination of sexy and cute. Alec is still human, so far, but his human life has to face the toughest battle yet before he gets his forever, with Cronin, as a vampire. Once again, we get to follow along with Cronin, Jodis and Eiji as they are forced to fight unbelievable forces of vampiric evil with their human key…Alec.

This time, the enemy freaked me out a bit. The Chinese Terracotta Army is really an ingenious idea for a group of raised vampires and the images in my head while I was reading were just eerie. Of course, nothing is as simple as it appears and Alec and Cronin not only have to fight a legion of clay vampires, but at the same time, they are not quite feeling their best. Alec’s special blood is screwing up Cronin, and being continually bit is screwing with Alec. How do these guys figure what’s going on since they are the first Human Key and Vampire fated couple?

There are many twists and turns, and the mysteries keep you on your toes. We learn a lot more about the special talents that vampires get after they transition and the expected talent for Alec promises to be a doozy…and is it ever. My favorite part of this entire story was the ending and the new relationship status of Alec and Cronin. Life was interesting before but it just increased tenfold and I, for one, cannot wait to read the next installment to see where these two take us next.

Overall Impression: I loved it

*I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher in return for a fair and honest review.*
