Blurb: Lessons in love, lessons in obedience…
Ethan and Max have been through more than most couples have. After visiting Las Vegas and falling in lust with the magnificent Dom, Maxmillian Poole, Ethan has become a personal bodyguard working for Max’s agency. Ethan has survived the Vegas Mafia, foreign hitmen, and a gun-wielding stalker, with Max there to help him recover each time. But although Max and Ethan still love each other, something in their relationship has subtly changed and Max is
determined to fix it.
A vacation at a high-end gay resort in Greece offers them the chance to reconnect and reaffirm their roles as Dominant and submissive. Beneath the hot Mediterranean sun, Ethan will know exquisite pain and sizzling pleasure. He will learn what true submission means at the hands of his powerful, dominant lover. But maybe surrender requires more than giving up your body…maybe it means changing the way you guard your heart.
Review: This is one of my favorite stories of the series so far, mostly because it focuses more on Ethan and Max together. Max feels he and Ethan need to re-establish their roles and decides a vacation is finally in order as a way to make that happen.
Ethan and Max travel to a gay resort in Greece that also caters to the BDSM crowd. There, they work on strengthening their bond and reinforcing Ethan’s submission. Their plan is to observe other doms/subs in order to hone their skills a bit. What they discover, and what I love most about these guys, is that theirs is not the typical dom/sub relationship. They are happy and comfortable not having the rules set by others who go by the stricter dom/sub code and end up satisfied with continuing to do things their own way.
There is no questioning the roles these guys play. Max is always super dominant and holds the power over Ethan who is naturally submissive. Some of the best scenes involve Max working Ethan over with nothing more than his voice and perhaps a hand here or there. The steam level of these scenes is through the roof, and they never get old or repetitive.
As with all of the previous stories, their relationship continues to grow and strengthen. Although they must still remain closeted, they have found a way to escape that through their vacation which they plan to make an annual deal. These guys are committed to each other regardless of whether anyone else can know it or not, and I love the ways they find to show that to each other.
These are fast reads, and I am going through them like butter. I’ll be sad when I get to the end, but, for now, I’m excited to jump right into the next one.
Overall Impression: I loved it
