Blurb: Theodore Reinhart is a young man looking for love. In San Diego. At a convention. For penguin shifters. WaddleCon is the go-to event of the year when looking for your life partner, but Theodore isn’t comfortable with the game they’ve turned dating into, nor does the convention provide for the gay community. A mistake in speed dating table assignments puts Theodore in front of Wesley O’Neill, a handsome and confident model who lets it slip that he’s definitely noticed the spark of attraction between them.
A perfect date ends prematurely when Theodore finds an abandoned egg in a bathroom trash can. Unable to leave it behind, Theodore and Wesley play a mad game of cat and mouse across the resort trying to keep it safe, all while growing closer to one another. Wesley may be the forever partner Theodore came looking for, but their relationship won’t work if they don’t make room for a little addition to the family.
I ADORED this little story. First of all, let me just say…. PENGUINS. I had to read it once I saw that in the blurb because really, how many penguin shifter books are out there?? Not many! At least not that I’ve found! I’m not going to go too much into the a recap of the story because I don’t want to give anything away. What I will say is that Theo and Wes meet at WaddleCon and sparks fly immediately but when Theo finds an abandoned egg in the bathroom, things start to get a lot more intense.
I just loved the feel of this story. It’s light-hearted but also fast-paced and funny so I really got into it. I loved both Theo and Wes and really enjoyed their connection. I adored the whole abandoned egg and how Theo bonded so quickly to it. It was hilarious seeing the situations they ended up in and only on their first date! I just wish it had been longer! I wasn’t quite as satisfied with the ending as I was hoping to be considering how great the rest of the story was.
All in all, a fabulous penguin shifter read. It’s a quick, easy, funny and cute. The characters are adorable and the storyline is engaging. I hope this isn’t the last we see of these two because I really want to see how things turn out between them now that all the excitement is over. Definitely give this is a go if you want something that’s quick and will give you a few laughs!
Overall Impression: I loved it!
