Blurb: Mercenary Kate Daniels knows all too well that magic in post-Shift Atlanta is a dangerous business. But nothing she’s faced could have prepared her for this…

Kate and the former Beast Lord Curran Lennart are finally making their relationship official. But there are some steep obstacles standing in the way of their walk to the altar…

Kate’s father, Roland, has kidnapped the demigod Saiman and is slowly bleeding him dry in his never-ending bid for power. A Witch Oracle has predicted that if Kate marries the man she loves, Atlanta will burn and she will lose him forever. And the only person Kate can ask for help is long dead.

The odds are impossible. The future is grim. But Kate Daniels has never been one to play by the rules…

What to say? What to say? I honestly have no idea how to review this novel because there’s really no words to describe it without sounding like a bumbling idiot. What I will say is that SO MUCH happens in this one. A lot of twists, turns and completing SHOCKING revelations.   I won’t go into details about what happens because there really is so much that goes on within this story and the blurb does a pretty good job of explaining a bit of what happens without being too revealing.

What I WILL say is that Kate and Curran were just as fierce and intense as they’ve always been and I absolutely ADORED the snark throughout the story. I also found the relationship between Kate and Roland both fascinating and scary. It was crazy how insane Roland would be one moment and then all loving the next. I loved that we got to see Dalia so much AND I absolutely LOVED Kate’s reaction to all the wedding planning. Add to that, ROMAN! Hello, this man NEEDS a story. He’s so misunderstood and I seriously could not get enough of him in this book. I just loved that he took being asked to officiate Kate and Curran’s wedding so proudly and his reactions to everything made this story even better. And WOW, Christopher. I did not expect that twist with him. Things definitely changed with him and then add Barabas into the mix?? HOT DAMN!

I LOVED this book but I had a few issues. I feel like Kate and Curran have reached a point where there should be no secrets between them yet Kate is CONSTANTLY keeping things from Curran, I was a little annoyed with this because she had a ton of times to let him know what was happening and never did 😦 Add to that, I was a little disappointed in the resolution at the end. So far, each book has had an EPIC fight in the end but this one seemed a little… tame… compared to past books. Also, what the hell with Jim?? He needs to get his head examined and stop being so serious!

In the end, this was an AMAZING book. I absolutely loved it and getting back into the Kate Daniels world. I love the relationship between Kate and Curran, even if she insists on keeping secrets from Curran. This book was still as fast-paced and intriguing as all the previous books with the added benefit of some shocking twists and I can’t wait to see what happens next especially with how this one ended! WOW! So looking forward to the next book! And really hope it won’t be the last in the series  😦

Overall Impression: I loved it!

*I received a copy of this book from the publisher in return for a fair and honest review.*
