Blurb: Ho Ho Ho! Working over the holidays may be the best Christmas present ever!
San Francisco-based IT consultant Martin Bell is called to Dallas two days before Christmas to calm a nervous client. When he checks into the hotel he’ll call home for the holidays, he can’t help but notice the attractive man behind the front desk.
While checking Manhunt for possible hookups, Martin is surprised to discover he’s chatting up Jose, the hot front desk guy. After an amazing night together and a sexy Xbox marathon, Martin and Jose find they might be headed toward something more than just a holiday fling.
When Martin gets called to Dallas unexpectedly right before Christmas, he’s resigned himself to spending the holiday alone. But when he meets the man behind the front desk, he might just have found someone to spend the holidays with.
I tried really hard to like this story. I thought it had a lot of potential and I liked the hints of personality we save of Martin and Jose but with all the sex, it was really hard for me to get into it. Even though the story is so short, it took me a really long time to read it because I kept losing interest in the book. To me, it seemed like the story kept dragging on without really going anywhere. When I thought things were starting to pick up and the story was getting some depth, Martin and Jose just ended up having sex instead. It was a bit exhausting and by the end, I felt like I didn’t know either of the characters but more importantly, the characters didn’t even know each other beyond the physical aspect.
In the end, I felt this one had a lot of potential but it just didn’t have as much depth as it could have had. I loved the premise of the story and even though I’m not one for smutty stories, I could have still gotten into this one if there had been more of an effort to develop the characters. As it is, I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone who’s looking for some meat to their read but I do recommend it to anyone who enjoys smutty stories.
Overall Impression: It was okay, but not good
