The Character Discussion
by Kelly Wyre & AF Henley
Welcome to the Breaker (Exile, Volume 1) Blog Tour and Giveaway! We’re both super excited about this new release and thrilled to be able to share it with you. Throughout this tour, we’re going to be introducing many of the characters within, and associated with, Exile’s bizarre shores, as well as introducing Exile itself. Then we’re going to top that off with a quick little teaser.
However, before we get into any of that we wanted to remind you that we’ve got a couple of awesome giveaways going along with the tour so be sure to read through to the end to find out how you could win either a Silver-plated Starfish Anklet (just by leaving a single comment!), or the grand prize of a signed, print copy of Breaker, a coordinates bracelet with the Believe. Seek. Prove. reminder so you can always find your way back to the island of Exile, and a $20 gift certificate to the Less Than Three Press book market.
The Character Discussion
AF Henley: *looks up, petrified* What do you mean, “YOU start it this time?”
Kelly Wyre: I think I meant exactly that. And now I’m questioning my life choices. As usual. Ahem. HI EVERYBODY! We’re here to keep on discussing Exile: Breaker characters. Who’s up today, Henley?
AFH: Loaded question, Kelly.
KW: *eyes Henley* Hm. Do you need a second? Does today’s character just… do it for you?
AFH: Aw, Kelly. All our characters do it for me. But Mithra *is* a pretty cool one.
KW: I like her.
AFH: She does the thing… with the thing… that we wrote about.
KW: Yes. That thing. The give-the-Barrier-its-creepy-ass-vibes-thing. Mithra is one of the people who maintains the Barrier on the Island, which is the thing that helps guard it from the overly-militarized-completely-freaked-out-and-trigger-happy world. Unfortunately, it makes Eddie see the Kraken.
AFH: Damn. She’s good at what she does then.
A great big thank you to The Blogger Girls for hosting us today, and another to you for joining in on the fun. Best of luck with the giveaway and we hope you enjoyed the post!
Until next time,
Kelly Wyre and AF Henley ❤
About Breaker
In the wake of several near-cataclysmic events, humanity created the Cure, a DNA-altering antidote to death by disease and old age. But all cures come with side effects: a small percentage of the population develops a wide range of powers, some of which are lethal to others, and some which are lethal to the wielder.
These people are called the Estranged, hunted and shunned, safe only on the Island of Exile. It is here that Kaeva and Eddie meet—and where they set a prophecy in motion, quite possibly sealing their own demise, and even the end of Exile.
Notes: contains some explicit content and includes thoughts and discussions of past and potential suicide

An Excerpt from Breaker
“Yes. I am.” For some reason that made Kaeva feel better. The radio in the bag’s mesh pocket squawked.
“Control to intake, over,” a voice said.
Kaeva yanked out the radio and hit the button. “Intake, over.”
“We’re getting energy spikes in the Barrier near your location.”
“And this is me telling you I told you so, over.”
There was a brief silence. “Kaeva?” A woman spoke. “This is Mithra. What’s your status, over.”
Kaeva heaved a silent sigh of relief. Mithra. Sanity. “Intake’s here. Preparing to get him to Med, over.”
“Whoa,” Eddie interrupted. “Intake? Wait, what? “
“Hush,” Kaeva said in aside to Eddie, who thankfully smacked his lips shut for the first time since they’d met.
“Any issues, over?” Mithra asked.
“A few, over.”
“Level? Over.”
“Unknown, over.”
“Estimation, over.”
“Pain in my ass, over.” Kaeva said. Eddie flinched and squirmed, but stayed silent.
“Everything is, Mr. Downs,” Mithra observed. “Orders are to take him in. I suggest you do it fast before you blow the western side, and I have to kick your ass, over.”
“I’d welcome you to try, over.”
“Don’t tempt me, over.”
“Fuck off, over.”
The radio went silent. Calmer, Kaeva glared at Eddie. “This is Exile, kid. Congratu-fuckin-lations. I’m to take you to the medical center for processing. You don’t come with me? Fine. You get shot by patrol. You don’t want that? Follow me.” Kaeva put his back to Eddie and started heading up the dunes.

Mithra, what a perfectly chosen name! Among other things Protector of The Waters. Tough luck for our poor, lovely Eddie that thanks to her he has such a hard time getting to Exile. From what I can tell from their conversation via radiowith Kaeva, I do like her unfazed way. No unnecessary questions, just kind of yes and no.😃Very pragmatic and down to Earth.
❤️
You know, I think the whole lot of them need a little bit of “Eddie” in their life!
I never knew that about Mithra’s name, btw. So thank you for pointing that out. (Kelly is so damn smart! :D)
Thank you so much, buddy. Glad you enjoyed her. ❤
I do try with the names. 😀
And Mithra is very down to earth. As in, cross her, and she will take you down to the earth. 😛
LOL – Thank you for the lovely comment as always.

Is it pronounce Crack-en or Cray-ken?
Now I really want to know and understand this barrier. It sounds fascinating. Are these spikes from Eddie popping over for crumpets? Or Kaeva since they’re apparently scared he’ll blow things up?
I think the thing I love most so far about all of these characters, is they are so used to each other, just like a big family, that they always seem to play off of each other so well….almost like the authors do. *hmmmmm*
If she has Kaeva’s respect she’s bound to be awesome sauce.
*grins wide* I don’t know WHAT you mean. 😀
Let’s see… I think it’s pronounced “crack-en” but I’d hate the make myself a liar on that. As for the spikes and the questions regarding Kaeva, I promise there are answers in the book. 😉
i think… *grins again*
Thank you so much for stopping in to read and comment! Good luck with the giveaway. ❤
Heya, Kel & Henley! *waves*
Ohh… Mithra, huh? *raises eyebrow* For some reason she reminds me of Nikita. The badass vibe alone makes me squirm. What if I get to talk to her face to face?
Yep. Sometimes I put myself on that position where I try to gauge my reaction on facing a character in real life. It’s fun, you know. Try it some time. 😉
And wasn’t that convo between Mithra & Kaeva downright hilarious. LMAO! I really like their interaction. Is it safe to say that it’s a banter rather than throwing insults to each other, Henley? Kel? *winks*
Thanks for coming by to The Blogger Girl, Kel & Henley! ❤
You're like Kaeva & Mithra in real life, you know. 😛
*waves back* Hiya James! 😀
And you know, I actually do that? Often. With characters like Deadpool. Iron Man. Captain America. It’s amazing how those meetings always seem to go so WELL in my head. *grins*
And neither Kelly nor I know what you mean at aaaallll… banter? Who? Us?
Thank you so much for joining us! Good luck with the giveaway! ❤
