Blurb: When Kell Roberts was with Damian Wylde in high school, it was all about the sex. No emotions, no getting invested. They split before graduating and Kell never thought he’d see Damian again.
Two years later, Kell is a techie and computer science student at the University of Washington. Seeing Damian again at a college party, sparks immediately start to fly. Kell rushes headlong into a new romance with Damian. This time trying to make it about more than just sex, but actually dating and getting emotionally involved is new territory for him. When Kell finds himself falling for Damian, he doesn’t know his own limits or how to handle getting emotionally involved. Especially when the relationship future and his own path are undefined.
Review:
Let me be clear up front. This rating has everything to do with the writing, and the emotional impact of the story, and not because I thought this was a beautiful romance. Nope, no way. Just the opposite, actually. Kell and Damian really have nothing, nada, zippo holding them together, except sex. And when I was running out of pages to read and things were not fully settled I started to get nervous, until I realized this was series and the Kell and Damian dynamic would continue on.
Vivyan Lynne is a new author to me, so I really had no idea what to expect. But, I did not expect what I got, which was a relationship so dysfunctional that it bordered on being toxic. It was like a car wreck that you could not turn away from because you have this sick fascination with seeing other people’s bad luck and being thankful it is not you. That was the case here, but at least it did end on a slightly positive uptick. I now need to instantly read the next book because I definitely need to see where these two knuckleheads go from here. If it’s anything like this one, it won’t be easy, but I think I at least know what to expect.
Overall Impression: I really liked it
