Surrender to vows.

Staff Sergeant Alexei Dvorkin has come a long way since being turned into a metahuman, and all he wants to do is marry the man he loves. A wedding is easy, but it’s the honeymoon where his past unexpectedly catches up with him.

A future together.

All Agent Sean Delaney wanted was a romantic honeymoon with his new husband. When he and Alexei stumble into a fellow operative’s mission on the luxury gambling resort island Fortuna-sur-mer, they get more than they bargained for in their newly-minted civilian lives.

Destined to burn.

Forced to choose between staying and joining the mission or leaving to stay safe and postpone their honeymoon, Alexei and Sean make the only decision they can—to fight.

Review:

I am so totally in love with this series and have yet to settle on my favorite couple. However, I just melt into a puddle of goo whenever Alexei is involved, so I must say it’s a good bet (considering the team bets on everything) that Sean and Alexei are in the running. In this classified segment, Alexei and Sean finally overcome their past traumas and tie the knot. Now, although I expected it to take center stage, the wedding was really a minor part of this story and it’s the honeymoon that gets all the action…in the bedroom and out.
Our poor guys have a billionaire gifting them with the honeymoon of a lifetime, but we all know that trouble follows our guys, not matter how much money Jamie throws at it, or how sternly Alexei threatens the universe to give them this time together. And isn’t that one of the things we love most about Alexei? His possessiveness of Sean is the stuff of romance novels, and how convenient that he stars in one. But seriously, his total alpha display, and his dirty talk in the bedroom, just about makes the rest of any storyline play second fiddle. Jamie has alway been the obvious favorite for me, but I swear, Alexei is neck and neck with him in the bedroom antics. Sheesh these guys know how to turn up the heat.
Now, there is much more to this novella than bedroom theatrics, but we already know that. There is violence, phasing, a pain in arse royal, and and the unfinished ending leaves us with the hope that the series is nowhere near complete. Anyone who has read this series has to continue with these novellas. The writing is consistent, the characters remain, well, in character, and the series just doesn’t get old. I can’t wait to see where we go from here…and I am hoping a certain royal and SAS agent play a starring role.
Overall Impression: I loved it!
