Blurb: Kaito Watanabe has finally nabbed an interview with his idol, Cristian Alvarez. Kaito is a journalist who’s spent his entire life looking up to the figure-skating champion. Cristian’s passion on the ice unearthed a love of dance in Kaito and made him believe in the power of artistic expression.

Now Kaito is face-to-face with the man he’s always admired. He believes himself insignificant and ordinary, a moth drawn to the light Alvarez casts. He can’t allow himself to believe Cristian’s flirtations are anything but natural charm—but Cristian has other plans. The tension pitches higher, legs and fingers intertwine, and Kaito begins to wonder if his fantasies have a shot at becoming reality.

Blurb: After one thousand years of listless eternity, Oskar is used to his particular brand of loneliness. But a long walk through middle America and a few chance encounters will lead him straight to a man he’d known to be long since dead―his childhood best friend, Aranck.

Being undead hasn’t stopped Aran from living life to the fullest. He has all the money and power his charm and business savvy could earn him, and plenty of friends. Lately, though, something seems to be missing. After a millennium, perhaps the world’s shine has worn off—and that’s when Oskar stumbles back into his life, reminding him of who he used to be.

Together the two vampires remember what it felt like to live, all the while navigating a conflict with the local pack of werewolves. A lot has changed in a thousand years, and only time will tell if those changes will bring Oskar and Aranck closer together, or ensure they remain apart.

Author Q&A: L.A. Ashton + Excerpt & Giveaway!

Interview Banner

Please welcome L.A. Ashton to The Blogger Girls!

If you could trade places with one of your characters, who would it be and why?

Aranck from my novel “Echoes”, a thousand year old Native American vampire. He’s seen and done so much, and he still has a good heart.

If you could sequester yourself for a week somewhere and just focus on your writing, where would you go and what would the environment be like?

Trees and hills and wildlife. A cabin tucked away behind green next to a river. Nature always makes my imagination sing.

What’s the one thing you can’t live without?

Quiet.

What internet site do you surf to the most?

Ugh. Twitter.

If you had your own talk show, who would your first three author guests be and why?

Laurell K. Hamilton, because she shaped my mind and interests from a young age, and is in a queer poly relationship. She’s a very interesting woman, and I’ve grown to love her more and more as I’ve aged.

Drew Karpyshyn, a master of character work and action who needs to sit down and be praised by me for at least an hour straight.

Ted Chiang, because his brain works in such a vastly different way than mine, and I want to know more.

When you got your very first manuscript acceptance letter, what was your initial reaction and who was the first person you told?

Shock. I didn’t believe it until I made others read it. It still doesn’t feel real, somehow. The first one I told was my partner, and then I sent the screenshot to all my close friends and just trembled in an excited ball on the floor.
