Blurb:  Vannguard Shaw has spent the last ten years serving a life sentence and adjusting to the ache of solitude. He accepts his fate, a sacrifice for the only man he ever loved and the one person who saw beyond his rough edges.

Drayton grew up with a trust fund and pre-planned future, but an unexpected encounter one night forces him to abandon everything and start from scratch. He is now a self-made man and developer of one of the most sought after electric exotic automobiles in the world with a fortune greater than that of his birthright. Yet, he’d surrender it all—again—for the only man who’s still ever-present in his heart.

After a decade and entirely too much distance between them, Vann is suddenly released back into a world that has been nothing but cruel. Drayton never lost hope they would once again reunite and pick up where they left off, but Vann’s stubborn nature and repeated encounters with a heartbreaking world prove to be a challenge.

Vann needs to tap into his fighting spirit’s reservoir of strength and hope life doesn’t punish him for taking a chance. Only then will he realize his own value and feel worthy enough to finally have Drayton’s heart. And their chance at forever.

Character Interview with Julian Capeletti from The Men of Halfway House Series by Jaime Reese + Giveaway!

TBG: Reese Dante saved our ass!!  For the past few months, Friday’s have been reserved for our GRL Blog Tour posts.  Well, we had a cancellation at the last minute and Reese and her alter ego Jaime Reese was soooooo kind enough to help us out.  Here is a wonderful interview with Julian!!!

Interview with Julian Capeletti from The Men of Halfway House Series

When you wake up in the morning what’s the first thing you do?

Thank God for putting Matt in my life.

If you had a free day and your only mission was to enjoy yourself, what would you do?

*smiles* I’d kick everyone out of the house and spend the day with Matt in bed.

What would you like it to say on your tombstone?

I survived. Then again, that might freak out a few people if they read it on a tombstone.

Do you think you’ve turned out the way your parents expected?

I’d like to think I’m working toward being the man my mom knew I could someday be.

What have you never done and don’t see yourself ever doing. Why?

Skydiving. I don’t understand why you would jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Besides, I’m not a fan of tempting fate.

What is the worst thing that’s happened in your life? What did you learn from it?

Are you kidding me? I don’t think we have enough time here. I’ve learned to deal with things day by day and I try not to dwell too much on the negative. Everything happens for a reason even if we can’t see it at the time.

What is your greatest fear?

Aside from losing Matt, I’d say I’m terrified of becoming a man like my father.

Julian-headshotWhat is the most important thing in your life?

It seems I’m going to repeat myself a few times in this interview. *smile*

Matt. He’s made such a difference in my life I don’t want to remember what it was like without him.

When you’re driving down the road, what music do you listen to?

Classical music. It calms me.

What do you like best about yourself?

My eyes. They’re the same color as my mom’s.

How do you feel about your life right now?

I’m incredibly thankful. I still have things I need to work through but Matt has the patience of a saint.

How do you express your anger?

I’m told I growl and glare. I don’t know. Why don’t you piss me off so we can find out?

What is your favorite breakfast?

*smiles* I’ll eat anything. I have many favorites.

What do you want to avoid?

Interviews.

What flaw must you overcome?

The list is long, but I’m working on it. I’m stubborn, extremely jealous—the list goes on and on.

What do others have that you want/need/lack?

I’ve got Matt. Everything else will work itself out.

What is your most treasured possession?

Matt. He’s mine and I’d do anything for him.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

I do hate repeating myself.

Tell me something about you most people don’t know?

I play acoustic guitar.

Where would you like to live?

Anywhere with Matt would feel like home.

What do you most value in your friends?

Their desire to help others.

Who are your heroes in real life?

Matt. Heroes are supposed to come to the rescue. He saved me.

Which living person do you most admire?

Matt. And if you have to ask me why, then you obviously don’t know me and haven’t been listening.

On what occasions do you lie?

I don’t lie. It’s too exhausting trying to remember all the crap and keeping it straight. It ends up biting you in the ass later.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Seriously?  No, really. That’s the word.

How would you like to die?

That’s a morbid question.

What is your motto?

Everything happens for a reason.

What does the halfway house mean to you?

To me, HH personifies Matt and offers love, acceptance, and help – even if you’re too pigheaded to realize it. HH is my home. It’s where I’m happy and where I now find solace. It gave me a second chance at a point in my life when I just kept sinking and didn’t see a way of escape. I’m stronger than I’ve ever been and can truly say I’m happy. At the risk of sounding like a cliché, I believe it, and Matt, have made me a better man.

How does it feel to share a house with ex-cons you barely know?

The guys appreciate the value of personal space. So they see it as their home, even if only temporary, and they respect boundaries. Well, all of them so far except for Cole but we’re working on it.

People fuck up. It’s in our nature. But I don’t think it’s right to judge people by what you see or by what you read. So I hate that label of ‘ex-con’. I’m willing to hold off on my opinion of them until I get to know them firsthand. Cam, for example, on paper, has a long list of charges that would make anyone cringe. In person, he’s a stubborn guy who just couldn’t catch a break in life. He’s strong and just needed a few people to have a little faith in him. It was great being a part of seeing him grow into his own, to experience that moment when he took control of his life and started making changes. I can’t explain how it felt to be a part of that. I guess it’s probably what a parent or older brother feels.

Do you see yourself as a married man someday?

I’m by Matt’s side and have no plans to be elsewhere regardless of whether our state recognizes it or not. But once our state changes their law, feel free to ask me again. *smile*

blogger_bee_transAbout Jaime Reese

Jaime Reese is the alter ego of an artist (you may know her as Reese Dante) who loves the creative process of writing, just not about herself. Fiction is far more interesting. She has a weakness for broken, misunderstood heroes and feels everyone deserves a chance at love and life. An avid fan of a happy ending, she believes those endings acquired with a little difficulty are more cherished.

You can find Jaime on her Website, Facebook, Goodreads, Twitter or Amazon.
