Blurb: SEASON’S KISSES
Wild child Chloe Thompson can’t believe how much things have changed. She still can’t get enough of her sexy husband Sawyer, but he seems to prefer working to thinking about impending fatherhood. So tonight, a very pregnant Chloe is escaping her troubles at the town Christmas party.
Sheriff Sawyer Thompson hopes surprising Chloe at the party will give him a chance to set things right. But as the snow begins to fall and the wind rages, he wonders whether he can make it back in time. While mother nature conspires to keep Sawyer and Chloe apart, an unexpected arrival will require them to kiss and make up . . . and ring in the happiest holiday Lucky Harbor has ever seen.
Review:
Chloe Thompson née Treager and Sherrif Sawyer Thompson were one of my top favorite couples from Jill Shalvis’ Lucky Harbor series. I loved Sawyer’s intense attention and protective stance when it came to Chloe. So, getting an update about them, even if it’s a short story/short novella for Christmas is a joy for me – especially since Lucky Harbor series has finished after book 12.
Here, Chloe and Sawyer have been married for five years, and Chloe is now VERY pregnant and feeling all the hormonal imbalances that come with pregnancy. Sawyer is leaving for a week to take a DEA job, and Chloe is fretting that she has pushed her husband away, that she has become very bitchy and demanding during her pregnancy, and she worries a lot whether she is good enough for Sawyer.
I really liked seeing Chloe’s state of mind – it was just SO Chloe to me – she was the Wild Child, though she showed her vulnerability around Sawyer … and she did wonder whether she would be a good mother for her baby. It just felt so natural. I loved how Chloe looked back on when she told Sawyer about the pregnancy and how she felt for her dear husband. Sawyer was such solid one! His love for Chloe, his deep devotion for his wife, was so vivid and so clear for us readers. Sigh. I loved them so much.
Oh, a bit of a spoiler, there was a detailed labor scene near the end, you know, along with Chloe cursing, some bones crushing, and well, a baby being delivered into the world. It was pretty intense, but it also showed Chloe and Sawyer among friends … and I could just imagine it. It was happy moment, and I really liked being there with them.
All in all, it was a lovely update on one of the Lucky Harbor couples. Good luck on parenthood, Chloe and Sawyer!
Overall Impression: I really liked it!
