Blurb:  Taking sides and striking bargains with sex…

In the clutches of Captain Dickerson once again, Black suddenly finds a reason to remain in the employ of the JCPD: his team has been handed over to another lieutenant, and it’s not Lieutenant Sundhill. Alarmed by the identity of this man, Black knows he can’t leave his teammates to fend for themselves, especially now that the lines of war are finally being drawn in the sand. Worse, Dickerson’s experiments appear to be expanding their focus. Forced to take a side, Black does what Calyx believes is the unthinkable and agrees to lead an army. Is Black leading them all to war? Or is he playing a game with Genesis that could change everything, and which might leave Calyx as the last psypath standing?

Review: If you are looking for an intense paranormal that’s a little more on the darker side with a smidgen of kinky, you need to pick up this series. From the start, it has been exciting and different, and I’ve been enjoying it immensely every step of the way.

In this installment, Black is yet again forced to make decisions he isn’t happy about. Of course, Captain Dick is front and center and doesn’t go about it without exacting a bit of revenge on what he perceives as outright betrayal on Black’s part. But, just when you think things are heading in one direction, they take a major turn and the game board changes in front of our eyes. We, and the characters, still don’t know who to trust, but it is evident that war is on the horizon between the Normals and the Psypaths. Black and the other cast of characters (his original team, Echo and the girls, etc.) are all trying to get to the bottom of things, all the while rumors are flying and events are taking place that test everyone’s loyalties. Each side is trying very hard to secure their leader in the fight, hoping to gain the advantage of having the most powerful Psypath on their team, and things get pretty interesting on that front.

There are still a number of things at play here, and even though we get a few more answers, there are still so many left untold. At the center of it all are Calyx and Black, who, no matter what, and no matter who, they are forced to do things with, stay true to their promises of staying together. Not only that, but when certain things happen, Calyx kicks it up a kinky notch and steps in to reinforce his position in Black’s life.

While there is never a ton of actual sex in these stories (especially between the actual couples), what we do get is unbelievably hot and intense. If you haven’t read the rest of this series, I highly recommend you run out and get started. But, be prepared to go for a ride, because you won’t want to get off until you reach the end. I couldn’t get there fast enough, but am now disappointed I have to wait for more.

Overall Impression: It was amazing
