Blurb: Officer Finn Hallan has never run from a fight. With Niall’s life and love at stake, he’s not about to start now.

N.B. Originally published with All Romance, this edition features the same story with new cover art

Finn Hallan is a member of the elite Norwegian Emergency Response Unit, code name Delta. When the team is sent to respond to a hostage situation on an Oil Platform, he has to face demons he thought he had buried a long time ago.

Scottish engineer Niall Faulkner’s skills in oil platform decommissioning takes him to the Forseti platform at the worst possible time. When he’s captured by terrorists, his only thought is that he will never get to tell his lover how he really feels.

Can Finn keep Niall alive? Or will they both die at the hands of hijackers in the frigid waters of the Norwegian sea?

Review: This is a great short story. Fast paced and action packed, with pretty fantastic and very likeable main characters. I am not normally a lover of short stories, because I am always left wanting more, but in this case, I felt like it was well rounded, and though we don’t follow the guys every step of their budding relationship, we are easily able to monitor their progress without feeling as if too much was lost or left unsaid.

Finn is a the hottie alpha badass who puts his life on the line as a special forces type cop, while Niall is the nerdy engineer who catches his eye. I loved the joking and bantering between them and their dialogue was a mix of sexiness and humour. Dialogue is the winner for me, even a micro story can get high marks with the right dialogue. In addition to the relationship growth, we are also thrust into a life and death situation where it is not certain either will make it out alive.

A part of me felt like I missed a first story, but enough was covered in the action and the dialogue between Finn and his partner, Erik, that I was able to glean what happened in the past that brought on the events that occur in this book. I think I was in the mood for a short, fast paced, action story because this one was highly entertaining and gave me my alpha, badass fix.

A great filler shortie between longer stories, and recommended for those who like the alpha types and nerds.

Overall Impression: I really liked it!

*I received a copy of this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review.*
