Snow started it all. Seriously. It was over a year ago. We were having a very long winter and it seemed to never stop snowing. Layers upon layers. I remember thinking how everything blended together and how when something fell through the snow it became one with it.
This made my mind wander and I actually pictured my daughter and how if she had white hair I wouldn’t find her in all the sparkling white snow. As my mind dug deeper she morphed into he, Snow. His story of why he’d be blending into the snow. Was he running, hiding, who was he?
I went home and started writing what he looked like. White blond hair, like fresh fallen…snow. Eyes so blue they almost glowed and were like blue fire when he was angry. Skin that challenged his hair for the right to be alabaster.
I then knew his personality would have to be just as sharp, amazing, and unique. I knew he’d be snarky and brave. He’d challenge and submit. He’d be outstanding.
Snow was light and there’s always darkness that accompanies light. Together they make a shadow. That was when Christopher came to be. His dark hair, dark eyes, olive complexion. His broad body and rough attitude was the polar opposite of Snow. Together they would mingle and become an eclipse.
I knew these two would be my characters. Christopher was born from Snow. I guess you could say they were born for each other.
Inspiration came with the weather and then with the light. Odd as it may sound that’s how they came to be.

An Excerpt from Snow Falling
Christopher took a breath, placed his mug down, and leaned his elbows on his knees. “You are a part of this. Roy will know you had something to do with this the second the meeting starts. Look.” He smacked his knees and stood. “I don’t want to keep you here against your wishes but I will.”
Fuck, so much for saying he wouldn’t. “You’re going to force me to stay?” This guy was used to getting what he wanted. I wasn’t, but I had figured out how to survive. There was no talking him out of this.
“If I have to. You can work with me or against me.”
There was no thinking required. The choice wasn’t mine but he didn’t need to know I was about to agree so quickly. I said the ABCs in my head before I answered. “Fine. But if I die, I will haunt you for all eternity.”
Christopher, surprisingly, smiled. “I see why Simon likes you.”
Haughtily, I asked, “Because I’m awesome?”
“No, because you act like you’re five.” I didn’t get a chance to defend myself. “Frank, can you show Snow where his room is?” Swiftly, Christopher left the room and Frank stood next to me.
“Okay, Baloo, show me to my cell.” The only indication that he had heard me was a chuckle. “Will the door be locked from the outside so I can’t run?”
“You won’t run.” His tone was stern. He was sure of himself.
“You don’t know me very well then.” The look of skepticism Frank gave me was nothing new. I was always misjudged.
“Don’t be trouble. Boss likes you. If you run, he’ll shoot you personally.”
Well, that won’t give me sweet dreams. “Why personally? Isn’t that why you’re here?” I tried joking because it had worked in the past, but Frank stopped and glared.
“He has a rule. He won’t ask anyone to do something he isn’t willing to do himself. He’s taken you as a personal interest. If he has to, he will punish you himself. Don’t give him a reason. You did a good thing tonight; stop fighting him.”
