Blurb: Despite having had a rough life, Seth has a big heart. After spending nearly ten years sleeping rough on the streets of New York, he’s managed to get himself freelance work and a place to live. But his new found security is about to be torn apart, as the horrors of his past come back to haunt him in the worst possible way.
Dante was sent to watch over a young Seth when his mother died. As an angel, he had many rules to follow. The most important of which was to never fall in love—especially when it involves a human who is your charge. For the last ten years, Dante has kept his feelings for Seth hidden. That is until the night Seth’s past catches up with him.
When Seth is murdered, their destinies are changed forever. Feelings and emotions come to the surface, but will the rules that govern the afterlife keep Dante and Seth apart for eternity, or will they be able to find their happily ever after together?
**Contains explicit language and scenes**
Review:
New authors for me and I am happy to say, I loved the start of their new series and look forward to seeing where they plan to take this new world they’ve created…I especially want to know if Seth and Dante stay on earth, and what happens with very bad boy, Killian, and I want to see more of Julian.
Dante is of the caste of angels whose purpose is to watch over their humans charges, of which, Seth is one…and the only one Dante has ever had any feelings for. Killian, is of the caste of angels who take new souls to the crossroads where they make their own decision on where to permanently rest their souls. And Julian is an angel who totally broke my heart. A very kind angel who lost his soul mate and is still suffering from the choices he made. All of this was very intriguing to me, along with the council of angels who really need to look into changing their archaic rules governing angels.
But, this first book is about the budding relationship between Dante and Seth, which actually doesn’t even start while Seth is alive, and the trials and tribulations of their many rules-breaking in order to be together. There were just so many catch 22’s for these poor guys, along with a bit of betrayal on the part of someone who was considered a friend.
I would love to say this ended in a HEA, and it was really pretty darn close, but I believe we still have more to see of Dante and Seth. However, if I am wrong about that, I can sleep well knowing that they are together and doing what brought them together in the first place. I definitely recommend this book to those who love angels and want to step outside the real world for a while. I loved it, and can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
Overall Impression: I really liked it
