A Cowboy for Caleb by L.C. Davis: Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

The temptation you wish you could resist?
Overthinking. I overthink pretty much everything. I could do better at resisting chocolate.
The film you can watch time and time again?
The Exorcist. I’m a horror junkie, so any of the classics, really.
The unlikely interest that engages your curiosity?
I’m kind of obsessed with religious studies. From the mainstream to the archaic, what people believe about the supernatural has always interested me.
The poem that touches your soul?
I have yet to read a poem by Rumi I didn’t love. “I am not this hair. I am not this skin. I am the soul that lives within,” is probably my favorite.
The song that means the most to you?
It’s hard to pick just one, but “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis has always been the song I associate with how I feel about my partner, so I’d go with that!
The unfulfilled ambition that continues to haunt you?
I have always wanted to be fluent in another language. Particularly Spanish. I’m working on it, actually, but I’m nowhere near as proficient as I’d like to be!
Your early recollections of writing fiction?
Bad fanfiction. That’s all I’m gonna say!
The way you would spend your fantasy twenty-four hours, with no travel restrictions?
I’d like to say something romantic, like visiting the Grecian ruins or ancient temples, but honestly, I would probably just try every famous food in as many countries as I could get to.
The pet hate that makes your hackles rise?
The sound of someone chewing with their mouth open. I can’t handle it.
The figure from history you would most like to buy a pie and a pint?
St. Joan of Arc. Doesn’t get more badass than her!
The piece of wisdom you would pass onto a child?
Do not listen to me, small human, I have no clue what I’m doing.
The philosophy that underpins your life?
Hustle hard, set boundaries and be kind to people.
The character you enjoyed writing the most?
From my latest release, Dustin was really fun to write for! He’s such a dude. Literally. I mean, he works on a ranch. Everything is pretty straightforward for him, and he’d do anything for his omega and his pack. He’s hard not to love.
The character you found difficult to write?
Dustin’s mom. I still have a hangover from her evilness.

About A Cowboy for Caleb

Falling for his deceased twin brother’s mate was never part of Dustin’s plan.

This midwestern Alpha might be a little rough around the edges, but he lives by a few simple principles and honor is chief among them.

Nonetheless, when tragedy strikes the Meadowlands Pack, Dustin feels he has no choice but to bring his twin’s mate home to take care of him. The only problem is, Caleb isn’t anything like Dustin expected of the city omega who stole his brother’s heart and divided their family.

What starts out as trying to do the right thing soon becomes a blurry series of complicated decisions that lead Dustin further away from the path he’s always followed—and further into the arms of the one omega he was never supposed to want.

Caleb has been through the worst a mated omega could fear. He’s lost his mate and their unborn child, and now he finds himself at the mercy of an Alpha who has every reason to hate him.

Despite being twins, Dustin and Caleb’s former mate, Alec, are nothing alike. Caleb wants nothing more than to please his new Alpha and secure his position in the pack, but Dustin seems to take everything he says the wrong way.

As forbidden tensions mount between Alpha and omega, Caleb begins to fear that Dustin will start taking his developing interest the right way.

Release Day Blitz: Love by Number by DJ Jamison + Exclusive Excerpt & Giveaway!

Love by Number by DJ Jamison

Aidan doesn’t have the best record with relationships, but he’s had a lifelong love affair with baseball. Player stats and computer simulations make sense. People don’t. But when he needs a ride to the World Series, he must rely on another person: a sexy artist who is as spontaneous as Aidan is predictable.

Jesse doesn’t care about baseball. As an artist, he’d rather paint a player than watch him at bat. But his grandpa loves the Kansas City Royals, so he takes him to every home game. He has no idea a fender bender in the parking lot is about to deliver new inspiration in the shape of a man with a whole bag of quirks.

Despite their differences, Jesse and Aidan hit it off, and their sexual chemistry is fantastic. But when Aidan’s numbers betray him, Jesse isn’t prepared for the fall-out. If Aidan continues to put his passion for baseball stats above everything else, he could miss out on the most important numbers in life: the number of smiles, kisses and laughs they could share in a lifelong journey together.

Check it out on Goodreads and Amazon.

Exclusive Excerpt from Love by Number

Jesse pulled in at the next gas station and went inside to buy a few snacks, while Aidan stretched his legs. He didn’t eat much and felt no desire to get dragged into another Jesse road-trip tradition of eating sugary crap.

When he returned, Jesse poured the contents of a pixie stick down his throat and turned to Aidan. “We’re nearly to Marshall now. Ready to pop your roadside attraction cherry?”

“My what?”

“You know, you’ve never done this before, right? Ready to see your first one?”

“I guess. I still say this is a waste of time.”

“You need to live a little.”

“I’m breathing, therefore I’m living more than a little. Though how long that will continue with you behind the wheel is anyone’s guess.”

Jesse laughed. “I bet you drive like a grandma, huh?” Continue reading

Author Q&A: Lane Hayes+ Excerpt & Giveaway!

Interview Banner

Thank you so much for having me here today. Leaning Into Touch was just released last week! Woohoo! This is book 4 in my newest series set in San Francisco, which also happens to be one of my favorite places in the US. There is endless inspiration in the city by the Bay from its dramatic hills and seascape to its rich diversity, great food and friendly people.

But inspiration is everywhere. So why not do a quick Q&A about it for fun?

If you could sit on a bench in a beautiful woods, who would you like sitting next to you on the bench and why?

My husband. He’s easy. He can be chatty and funny but he also likes his solitude. After thirty years, we’ve learned how to just “be” together. And that’s a very nice thing.

Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight, or night? Why?

Hmm. This is an interesting question. I’ll say sunrise because I’m up before sunrise almost every day. It’s become part of my writing ritual, which is kind of fitting since I’m writing love stories about new beginnings with a sense of hope.

If you could be in the movie of your choice, what movie would you choose and what character would you play?

The first movie that springs to mind is Pride and Prejudice. I love that book! I could portray Elizabeth Bennett easily. In fact, I might already know most of my lines! lol

If you were a city, which city would you choose to be and why?

New York City. It’s my absolute favorite place. I love its unapologetic diversity, sophistication and its gritty realness. Those are qualities I’d be extraordinarily pleased to possess myself!

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you want to have with you?

Books, music and earl grey tea. Or more accurately, my Kindle and iPod with some form of solar energy battery so I never had to worry about charging because one or two books or records would never be enough!

Happy Reading!

Excerpt from The Past Comes Home

A knock on the shop door drew Pax’s his attention; probably his assistant, Cindy. It wouldn’t be the first time she’d forgotten her key, and no one else would be dropping by this early. Microfiber duster in hand, he twirled his way past the worktables and unpainted pottery pieces.

He sang along with Madonna as he reached for the doorknob, and froze—Brad was grinning at him through the front window.

Heat rushed to Pax’s face. For a moment he contemplated racing over to turn the music off, then walking calmly back to the door as if the last few seconds had never happened. Could he convince Brad his earlier appearance was a hallucination?

Brad placed his hand against the window and peered in. “Is this a bad time? I know I’m really early.” Continue reading

Book Blast: Sweet Thing by Isobel Starling + Exclusive Excerpt

Exclusive Excerpt from Sweet Thing

by Isobel Starling

“Our final guest has arrived,” Emily announced triumphantly, her eyes mischievously meeting those of her partner-in-crime, Pieter, who’d come up with the master plan to challenge Simeon to a ‘cook-off.’  Pieter returned her stare and smirked as Simeon’s jaw dropped in realization of what he was seeing.

Emily knew they had done the right thing when she saw the way Simeon and Bastian stared at one another, their eyes as large as saucers.  The electricity between them was palpable.  Simeon could be a bit of a motor mouth, but on seeing Bastian Roth standing in the open plan kitchen, Simeon Duchamp appeared to be lost for words.

“Good to meet you,” Pieter said, stepping in to break the awkward silence and offering a hand to Bastian.  “You have great taste in art,” he joked.

“Ah, yes, the collection I purchased,” Bastian smiled warmly, shaking Pieter’s slender, elegant hand in both of his own.  “How could I resist.  Your partner is a very talented painter.  She captures your beauty so well.”  Pieter blushed.  Bastian turned and strolled behind the kitchen island to greet Simeon.
